S1H Shield V Booster Box Buying Guide: Set Info, Chase Cards & Where to Buy

S1H Shield V Booster Box Buying Guide: Set Info, Chase Cards & Where to Buy

Shield V — シールド in Japanese — is set code S1H, the Shield-themed launch expansion of Japan’s Sword & Shield era. It released on 6 December 2019 alongside a companion set, S1W Sword V, released the same day and built from a near-identical card pool under a Zamazenta-vs-Zacian split. Six years on, S1H is one of the earliest Sword & Shield-era boxes, with an eight-card secret rare tier that includes a Marnie Supporter card.

This guide covers what’s actually in a Shield V box, which cards make up its chase tier, what our site currently lists for the box and for graded singles from the set, and how Shield V relates to its English counterpart. We also correct a naming mix-up that’s floating around this set’s coverage online — more on that in the chase-cards section below. We ship Japanese sealed product and PSA-graded singles out of Tokyo, so every price on this page is our own current listing, not a third-party market figure.

Key Takeaway

The S1H-Shield V Japanese Pokemon Booster Box is currently listed at ¥63,000 (~$396). The set runs 68 total cards (60 main-numbered + 8 secret-rare V and Supporter cards) across 30 packs of 5 cards each. We don’t currently have a separate Damaged Box or No Shrink listing for this release; for a graded single instead, the PSA 10 Marnie SR 068/060 is currently listed at ¥121,800 (~$766).

The 60 main-numbered cards split into 26 Commons, 19 Uncommons, 7 Rares, 6 Double Rares and 2 cards without a printed rarity label. Above that sits an 8-card secret rare tier numbered 061 through 068, which is why product listings for this set show a /060 denominator — 60 main cards plus 8 secrets stacked on top of that base number.

Shield V’s English-language counterpart is Sword & Shield (swsh1). S1H and its companion S1W together form the Japanese source for that English base set — more on how the two languages line up further down this page.

For the complete 68-card breakdown, see our Shield V (S1H) card list. This guide focuses on the box itself — what’s inside, what we currently list, and the buying decision — rather than repeating that full checklist.

The PSA 10 Marnie SR 068/060 is currently listed at ¥121,800 (~$766) — the highest-priced of the S1H singles covered here. The PSA 10 Snorlax-V SR 066/060 is currently listed at ¥22,137 (~$139), and the PSA 10 Team Yell Grunt SR 067/060 is currently listed at ¥7,670 (~$48). Torkoal-V, Indeedee-V and Sableye-V don’t have a graded single currently listed on our site — sourcing requests for any of them go through Quick Order, with no timeline to share on availability.

One naming correction worth flagging: our own already-published Shield V pull rates and best cards guide names the set’s top chase card “Snorlax VMAX Rainbow.” At this exact position in S1H’s numbering — 066/060 — the card is Snorlax-V, a V-tier secret rare, not a VMAX card. The two share a name and are easy to mix up, but this printing is the V card, not the VMAX. Shield V does contain genuine VMAX cards, and they sit at different, base-numbered positions entirely outside the secret-rare block: Morpeko-VMAX at 020/060 and Snorlax-VMAX at 046/060. Our own catalogue lists these correctly as separate products — “PSA10 Snorlax VMAX RRR[S1H 046/060]” is a distinct product from “PSA10 Snorlax V SR[S1H 066/060].” If you’re ordering by name alone, keep the V and VMAX Snorlax prints separate.

Our site also lists a Snorlax VMAX HR entry numbered 070/060 and a Marnie HR entry numbered 072/060. Both numbers fall outside the 68-card range that Limitless catalogues for S1H, so we’re flagging them here as unconfirmed against that primary catalogue rather than pricing them on this page.

Worth noting for context: Shield V’s two VMAX cards actually predate S1a VMAX Rising, the later set that built its entire secret-rare push around the VMAX mechanic — see our VMAX Rising booster box buying guide for that set’s structure, and keep this Snorlax correction in mind if you’re cross-referencing VMAX chase cards across the wider Sword & Shield era.

Zamazenta-V (065/060) is the set’s thematic legendary secret rare, matching the Zamazenta-vs-Zacian box art split between this Shield-themed release and its Sword-themed companion, S1W. A PSA 10 single of this exact S1H print is not currently listed on our site. The same character was later reprinted as Zamazenta V SAR in S12a VSTAR Universe (232/172), and that reprint is currently listed at ¥9,015 (~$57) if the character rather than this specific S1H print is what you’re after — see our VSTAR Universe booster box buying guide for more on that later set.

Regular Box, Damaged Box and No Shrink: What’s Listed

Shield V is currently listed on our site as a single standard sealed booster box — the S1H-Shield V Japanese Pokemon Booster Box at ¥63,000 (~$396). We don’t have a separate Damaged Box or No Shrink listing for this particular release at the moment.

If you’re specifically after either condition category for Shield V, a request through Quick Order is the way to flag it — we can’t promise a timeline for whether one gets added, and this guide isn’t the place to speculate on that. What we can confirm is the one listing that exists today and its current price.

Japanese vs English Version: Shield V and Sword & Shield

Shield V’s English-language counterpart is Sword & Shield (swsh1). S1H, alongside its same-day companion S1W Sword V, together form the Japanese source for that English base set. For the full English-to-Japanese numbering bridge across the whole base set, see our Sword & Shield Japanese card list — that article covers both S1H and S1W together, while this guide stays focused on the S1H box specifically.

Shield V also sits early in a run of Sword & Shield-era Japanese sets. Our Rebel Clash Japanese card list covers the next expansion in that same era if you’re building out the wider Sword & Shield-era picture, and our vintage Japanese booster box guide is useful background if you’re also weighing older sealed Japanese product against a 2019-era set like this one.

Shield V is the Japanese name for set code S1H, released in Japan on 6 December 2019 alongside its companion set, S1W Sword V. Together, S1H and S1W form the Japanese source for the English-language set Sword & Shield (swsh1).

What’s inside a Shield V booster box?

Each box runs 30 packs of 5 cards, drawn from a 68-card set: 60 main-numbered cards (26 Common, 19 Uncommon, 7 Rare, 6 Double Rare, 2 without a rarity label) plus an 8-card secret rare tier numbered 061–068.

Is the top Shield V chase card a Snorlax VMAX or a Snorlax-V?

It’s Snorlax-V (066/060), a V-tier secret rare — not a VMAX card, despite that naming appearing in some coverage of this set. Shield V does contain a genuine Snorlax-VMAX, but it’s a separate, base-numbered card at 046/060, distinct from the secret rare at 066/060.
