Yveltal 013/028: 25th Anniversary Collection Card Guide

25th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION (S8a) released on Friday, October 22, 2021, and its checklist works through a run of Legendary Pokémon roughly by generation. Card 013/028 is Yveltal, the Darkness-type Destruction Pokémon from the Kalos region, illustrated by AKIRA EGAWA.

What does Yveltal 013/028 actually do, where does it sit among the rest of the set, and does it show up anywhere else in the 25th anniversary line-up? This guide answers each of those in turn, then covers what our store currently lists for the S8a box and for this specific card.

Key Takeaways

Yveltal 013/028 is a Darkness-type Basic Pokémon with 120 HP, one attack that discards up to 3 Special Energy from the opponent’s Pokémon and a second attack that does a flat 100 damage. It’s credited to illustrator AKIRA EGAWA, the same artist behind card 012/028 Xerneas. This single card isn’t listed on our site at the moment, but our S8A-25th Anniversary Collection Booster Box is currently listed at ¥67,200 (~$436) (September 17, 2026).

What Is Yveltal 013/028 in 25th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION?

Yveltal 013/028 is a regular print in the expansion pack 「25th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION」, credited on the official card database to illustrator AKIRA EGAWA. It’s a Basic Pokémon, so it can be played straight from the opening hand, and the database’s own evolution panel for this page lists it alongside a card called “Yveltal BREAK” (「イベルタルBREAK || [THIS CARD] イベルタル」). Yveltal BREAK is a card from a different set and is not covered here.

The database’s own Pokédex panel for the card reads (verbatim JP): 「No.717 はかいポケモン / 高さ:5.8 m 重さ:203.0 kg / 寿命が つきるとき あらゆる 生き物の 命を 吸いつくし 繭の 姿に 戻るという。」 — our rendering: National Pokédex No. 717, the Destruction Pokémon, height 5.8 m, weight 203.0 kg; it’s said that when its life comes to an end, it drains the life of every living thing and returns to the form of a cocoon.

What Does Yveltal’s Card Text Say?

Attribute Detail
Card number 013/028
JP name イベルタル
Type Darkness
HP 120
Stage Basic (たね)
Illustrator AKIRA EGAWA
Weakness Lightning (×2)
Resistance Fighting (−30)
Retreat Colorless Colorless

Yveltal carries two attacks. The first, [Colorless][Colorless] “Cry of Destruction” (our rendering of はかいのさけび), reads verbatim: 「相手の場のポケモンについている特殊エネルギーを3枚まで選び、トラッシュする。」 — our rendering: choose up to 3 Special Energy attached to your opponent’s Pokémon in play and discard them. No damage figure is printed on that attack.

The second attack, [Darkness][Colorless][Colorless] “Dark Feather” (our rendering of ダークフェザー), does a flat 100 damage with no additional printed effect. That is the whole of the card’s printed text: two attacks, a Lightning Weakness at ×2, a Fighting Resistance of −30 and a retreat cost of two Colorless energy.

Where Does Yveltal Sit Among the 28?

The official product page gives the set’s size as 全28種類 — 28 kinds of card. The official card database carries 25 numbered entries for the set, 001/028 through 025/028, plus 8 basic Energy prints whose detail pages show no number at all. Card 013/028 falls in the middle of that numbered run, between Xerneas at 012/028 and the Cosmog line at 014–017/028.

The set-wide finish is stated once, on the official product page, verbatim: 「カードはすべてキラカード。全28種類のカードから、ランダムで5枚のカードを封入。」 — our rendering: every card is a holo card, with 5 cards inserted at random from the 28 kinds in the set. The database prints no per-card finish note, so beyond that set-wide line there is no separate statement for 013/028 specifically. The official page also does not state how many packs make up a booster box.

Every pack carries 1 basic Energy card, chosen from the set’s own printing of Grass, Fire, Water, Lightning, Psychic, Fighting, Darkness and Metal. The Darkness printing shares Yveltal’s own type.

Xerneas sits immediately before Yveltal in the checklist, at 012/028, and shares its illustrator. The official product page highlights Xerneas by name; Yveltal is not one of the cards it names individually, though both appear in the same 001–025 numbered run.

Does Yveltal Appear Anywhere Else in the 25th Line?

Yveltal is not among the 25 cards in the official 「プロモカードパック 25th ANNIVERSARY edition」 (S8a-P) checklist published on the 25th anniversary site, which runs from Charizard through Tapu Lele-GX. That promo pack was never sold on its own: the promo pack was handed out with purchases of four booster packs during the launch campaign, and the 25th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION スペシャルセット — ¥1,188 tax included, sold through convenience stores — also contained one, alongside four expansion packs and a Pokémon coin.

The Golden Box’s own S8a-G subset does not contain Yveltal either. That subset is a 16-entry Pikachu-line deck: Pikachu V twice, Pikachu, Raichu, Pikachu VMAX, five Item cards, four Supporters and one unnumbered Basic Lightning Energy.

Yveltal also appears in 30th CELEBRATION (M6a)’s main set at 079/103, a separate print released worldwide on September 16, 2026.

For the S8a set as a whole — its chase cards, its Secret Rare 029/028 Professor’s Research, and how the box compares with the Golden Box and the Special Set — see our S8a pull rates and best cards guide.

Where to Buy

The route to this card is the sealed one. Yveltal 013/028 as a single is not listed at the moment, so a Quick Order request is the way to ask for it.

Two other catalogue pages are worth a look: the sealed booster box collection for other Japanese boxes, and the PSA 10 collection for graded singles that are currently listed, with the wider Japanese Pokémon card collection covering everything else. Our 25th Anniversary Collection booster box guide sets out how the box, the Special Set and the Golden Box differ.
