Zoroark & Hisuian Zoroark Cards Guide: Every Printing

Zoroark & Hisuian Zoroark Cards Guide: Every Printing

Zoroark is a Dark-type Pokémon built around illusion — and the Japanese TCG has printed it in illusion-worthy variety, from a 2010 promo debut through a full GX era, a Hisuian regional line, and the most recent run as N’s partner card in Battle Partners and Mega Dream ex. If you’re trying to work out which Zoroark or Hisuian Zoroark card is sitting in your binder, this guide walks through every major printing in order.

Three distinct card identities carry the Zoroark name across fifteen years of Japanese sets: the standard Unova-form Zoroark from the Black & White and Sun & Moon eras, the Hisuian regional-variant line that arrived in 2022, and the newest partner-card identity, N’s Zoroark ex, which has been printed twice in the past year. Knowing which family a card belongs to is the fastest way to place it, since the card number and set code tell you everything else.

We stock Japanese Zoroark and Hisuian Zoroark singles and sealed product out of Tokyo, so the anchors below reflect what’s currently listed in our own inventory alongside the card history.

Key Takeaways

Zoroark first appeared as a Japanese set card in White Collection (BW1w #37, 2010) before getting a GX treatment in Shining Legends (SM3+, 2017). The Hisuian variant arrived across Dark Phantasma (S10a, 2022) and VSTAR Universe (S12a, 2022), and the newest line is N’s Zoroark ex, printed in Battle Partners (SV9, 2025) and again in Mega Dream ex (M2a, 2025). We currently have PSA10 N’s Zoroark ex copies listed from ¥13,673 (~$86) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order).

Three distinct card lines sit inside that table: standard Zoroark (2010–2017), Hisuian Zoroark (2022), and N’s Zoroark ex (2025–present). The sections below cover each in order.

Each line also lines up with a different Pokémon TCG mechanic era. The original Zoroark’s biggest print is a GX card, tied to the Sun & Moon era’s GX mechanic. Hisuian Zoroark is built on the V/VSTAR mechanic that ran through the Sword & Shield era. And N’s Zoroark ex uses the ex mechanic, first seen on this character in the Scarlet & Violet-era Battle Partners set. If you already know which mechanic a card uses, you can jump straight to the matching section below without checking every number individually.

The Original Zoroark: White Collection to Zoroark GX

Zoroark’s first appearance as a Japanese set card came in the White Collection box (BW1w #37, released 2010-12-17), around the same time as the character’s 2010 movie debut. The English-language debut followed in Black & White (71/114).

Zoroark GX 054/072 RR Shining Legends
Zoroark GX 054/072 RR, Shining Legends

Zoroark’s next major TCG moment was the GX era. Shining Legends (SM3+, released 2017-07-15) carried the character to a full-art GX treatment in two forms: the standard RR at 054/072 and a secret rare SR at 076/072. The English counterpart set is Shining Legends (53/73).

Neither the original Zoroark promo nor the Shining Legends GX prints are currently in our listed stock — both are restock-request only through our Quick Order page.

The RR-plus-SR pairing on Zoroark GX — one standard rare slot and one secret-rare slot for the same character — is a pattern that repeats later in both the Hisuian Zoroark and N’s Zoroark ex lines below, where a single character gets a base collector print and a separate chase-tier print in the same set.

Hisuian Zoroark V & VSTAR: Dark Phantasma

The Hisuian variant line arrived in Dark Phantasma (S10a, released 2022-05-13), which carried four separate Hisuian Zoroark prints in one set — unusually dense for a single character. The English counterpart is Lost Origin (146–147/196).

Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR 062/071 RRR Dark Phantasma

Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR 062/071 RRR

Hisuian Zoroark V SA 083/071 Dark Phantasma

Hisuian Zoroark V (SA) 083/071

The four Dark Phantasma prints break down as: Hisuian Zoroark V RR at 061/071, Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR RRR at 062/071, a special-art V (SA) at 083/071, and an Ultra Rare VSTAR at 097/071. None of these four are currently in our listed single-card stock — restock requests go through Quick Order — but the Dark Phantasma booster box that contains them is currently listed at ¥28,000 (~$176).

For the full 71-card Dark Phantasma breakdown, see our Dark Phantasma best cards guide.

Because four separate Hisuian Zoroark prints came out of the same set, identification comes down to the card number in the corner rather than the artwork style alone — 061/071 and 062/071 are the base V and VSTAR prints, while 083/071 and 097/071 sit in the set’s higher secret-rare number range above the printed total of 071. If your copy’s number is higher than the set’s stated total, you’re holding one of the two secret-tier versions rather than the base V or VSTAR.

The Special Art Rare: VSTAR Universe 234/172

Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR 234/172 SAR VSTAR Universe
Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR 234/172, Special Art Rare, VSTAR Universe

Later in 2022, VSTAR Universe (S12a, released 2022-12-02) reprinted Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR in a Special Art Rare at 234/172. This falls into the same secret-rare-tier bracket as other SAR chase cards in the set, though we don’t have current single-card stock to attach a market figure to — it isn’t currently listed in our inventory. The VSTAR Universe booster box that carries it is currently listed at ¥32,028 (~$201).

See our VSTAR Universe best cards guide for the rest of that set’s secret-tier lineup.

Because Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR was already printed once in Dark Phantasma seven months earlier, the S12a 234/172 Special Art Rare is a second, separately-numbered print of the same VSTAR card rather than the character’s first VSTAR appearance. If you’re comparing the two, the Dark Phantasma 097/071 Ultra Rare and the VSTAR Universe 234/172 Special Art Rare are both secret-tier VSTAR prints, just from different sets seven months apart.

N’s Zoroark ex: Battle Partners & Mega Dream ex

The most recent Zoroark line pairs the character with N as a Trainer’s Pokémon partner card. Battle Partners (SV9, released 2025-01-24) introduced N’s Zoroark ex across three rarities: a standard RR at 061/100, a Special Art Rare at 127/100, and an Ultra Rare at 131/100. The English counterpart set is Journey Together (98/159). “N’s Zoroark ex” names both the Trainer and the Pokémon on the card, distinguishing it from the plain “Zoroark” and “Hisuian Zoroark” printings covered above — if your card’s name includes “N’s,” you’re looking at this most recent line.

N’s Zoroark ex 242/193 SAR
PSA10 ¥13,673 (~$86) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order)

Both chase versions from Battle Partners are currently in stock as PSA10 graded singles: the SAR at 127/100 currently listed at ¥16,830 (~$106) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) (one copy), and the Ultra Rare at 131/100 currently listed at ¥19,394 (~$122) (one copy). If you want the sealed route into either, the Battle Partners booster box is currently listed from ¥10,300 to ¥11,016 (~$65–$69) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order).

N’s Zoroark ex reappeared later in Mega Dream ex (M2a, released 2025-11-28) with another Special Art Rare at 242/193 — a fresh illustration on the same card concept. We currently have this version graded PSA10 and listed at ¥13,673 (~$86) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order), with two copies available.

Between the two Special Art Rare versions currently in stock, the Battle Partners 127/100 print is listed at ¥16,830 (~$106) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) and the Mega Dream ex 242/193 print at ¥13,673 (~$86) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order). Both are the same rarity tier from two different sets, so if you’re choosing between them, artwork and set of origin are the deciding factors rather than rarity.

How to Collect Zoroark Cards

With three separate card lines spanning fifteen years, building a Zoroark collection comes down to picking which era matters to you:

  • Original Zoroark (2010–2017) — the White Collection promo and Shining Legends GX prints aren’t in our current stock; request them via Quick Order.
  • Hisuian Zoroark (2022) — four Dark Phantasma prints plus the VSTAR Universe SAR. Singles are restock-request only right now, but both source boxes (Dark Phantasma and VSTAR Universe) are in stock if you’d rather pull your own.
  • N’s Zoroark ex (2025–present) — the only line with graded singles currently listed, across three product pages above, plus the Battle Partners box (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) for sealed product.

Hisuian Zoroark is one entry in a broader Hisuian print line — if you’re chasing the regional-variant cards more broadly, our Hisuian Pokémon cards guide covers the set. And if you’re after the pre-evolution, our Zorua cards guide tracks that line separately.

For any card not currently listed, our Quick Order page lets you request a quote directly. For graded copies, remember that PSA independently determines authenticity and grade — we sell what’s already been through their process.

If you’re building out a themed collection rather than chasing one specific card, working set by set is usually simpler than working single by single. A sealed Dark Phantasma box gives you a shot at all four Hisuian Zoroark prints from that release in one purchase, while a Battle Partners box (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) covers the original N’s Zoroark ex run. For the graded chase versions specifically, buying the already-certified single is the more direct route, since pulling and then grading a copy yourself adds both time and grading cost on top of the box price.

Where to Buy Zoroark Cards from Japan

We ship Japanese Zoroark and Hisuian Zoroark cards and sealed product worldwide from Tokyo with tracked delivery. The most reliably in-stock route right now is graded N’s Zoroark ex, since it’s the one line in this guide with multiple current single-card listings rather than box-only or restock-request-only availability.

For sealed booster boxes, our Battle Partners box (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order), Dark Phantasma box, and VSTAR Universe box pages are all currently listed. If you’d rather have the same character’s newest illustration, the PSA10 N’s Zoroark ex 242/193 SAR from Mega Dream ex is listed at ¥13,673 (~$86) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order), with two copies currently available — the lower-priced entry point into a graded chase-tier Zoroark card in our current stock.
