Six packs versus twenty. $26.94 versus ¥7,200. Two products share the same “30th” branding and launch inside the same four-week window, and yet they are not the same purchase at all.
The English Booster Bundle and the Japanese 30th CELEBRATION BOX (M6a) both draw on overlapping parts of the 30th-anniversary card lineup (the set compositions differ), but one is a six-pack retail add-on and the other is a full 20-pack sealed box. This guide lines up pack counts, per-pack pricing, contents, and availability windows for both, using the official showcase and product pages as the source for every figure.
The English Booster Bundle is 6 packs at a retailer-listed $26.94 (≈¥4,280) MSRP, launching 2026-10-02. The Japanese 30th CELEBRATION BOX is 20 packs at ¥7,200 tax-in (≈$45), released 2026-09-16, and is currently listed with us for pre-order at ¥25,000 (Sealed); the No Shrink option is sold out at the time of this update. No English booster box has been announced for this set — the only sealed 20-pack box is Japanese. For a comparable 25th-anniversary sealed box currently listed, see the S8a 25th Anniversary Collection Booster Box.
- The M6a Booster Box released worldwide on September 16, 2026; the Premium Deck Set and the FUTURISTIC BOX released in Japan the same day.
- Our M6a Booster Box is listed as a pre-order at ¥25,000 (Sealed); the No Shrink option is sold out at the time of this update.
- Our FUTURISTIC BOX is currently listed as a pre-order at ¥79,800 (~$518).
- The lowest SNKRDUNK asking price for a sealed M6a box fell to ¥17,500 on release day, down from ¥28,200 on September 10.
- Full card list: every card of the set with its official image, in number order — 30th CELEBRATION (M6a) card list (all 173 cards).
All conversions in this article use ¥159/USD (new release-day figures use ¥154/USD). The Japanese BOX released on 2026-09-16; the English Booster Bundle remains pre-release ahead of its 2026-10-02 wave.
Booster Bundle vs BOX: The Core Numbers
Both products are named after the same “30th” card pool, so it is easy to assume they sit at similar scale. They do not.
| EN Booster Bundle | JP 30th CELEBRATION BOX (M6a) | |
|---|---|---|
| Packs included | 6 | 20 |
| MSRP | $26.94 (retailer-listed) | ¥7,200 tax-in (≈$45) |
| Release date | 2026-10-02 (Wave 2) | 2026-09-16 |
| Cards per pack | 5 foil cards + 1 foil Basic Energy | 6 foil cards incl. 1 Pikachu + 1 special energy |
| Base set size | xxx/128 | xxx/103 |
| Sold as | Standalone retail SKU | Full sealed booster box, lottery-allocated in Japan |
The headline point: there is no English equivalent of a 20-pack booster box for this set. As of 2026-09-16, none of the 14 product types on the official Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration showcase is a booster box — the largest pack-count English product is the Ultra-Premium Collection at 30 packs, and the largest pure-pack product is the Booster Bundle at 6. The Japanese BOX is currently the only sealed 20-pack box format tied to this card pool. For other Japanese sealed 30th CELEBRATION product, browse our sealed booster box collection.
What’s Inside the English Booster Bundle

The Booster Bundle is exactly what the name says: six 30th Celebration booster packs and nothing else, per the official Pokémon TCG product showcase. Each pack contains “five foil cards (including one of 30 unique illustrations of Pikachu) and one foil Basic Energy card” — the whole set, including the Basic Energy cards, is holofoil.
It launches in Wave 2 of the English rollout, dated 2026-10-02, alongside the Binder Collection and the Day & Night Mini Tins. Reported MSRP is $26.94, sourced from retailer/aggregator pricing (Bill’s Archive, TCGplayer product listing 704171) rather than an official TPCi price sheet — the pokemon.com showcase itself shows no prices.
The English expansion also folds in cards from the separate Japanese Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon, and Bill’s Archive notes several cards carry numbering exactly six higher in English than in Japanese (for example, the Pikachu ex Day/Night pair is #053–054 in English versus #047–048 in Japanese) — a Bill’s Archive observation, not an official statement.
What’s Inside the Japanese 30th CELEBRATION BOX

The Japanese side is a full sealed box: 20 packs of 6 cards each, all holofoil, at ¥360 per pack tax-in, per the official 30th.pokemon-card.com product page. Every pack guarantees one of the 30 Pikachu-by-30-illustrators subset and one YOSHIROTTEN-designed special energy card. The set also carries 30 Classic Collection reprints in special spec, plus the two Futuristic Rare chase cards — Mewtwo ex and Mew ex, both illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN.
The official card list, published September 9, 2026, puts the set at 165 numbered cards: 103 main-set cards (001–103, including the 30 Pikachu), 32 secret rares (104–135, AR/SAR/FUR) and 30 Classic Collection reprints (136–165), plus 8 Basic Energy — 173 cards in all, per PokeBeach’s compiled count (PokeBeach’s headline figure is 176, which does not match this breakdown). All 32 secret rares have now been seen, but the AR/SAR/FUR block is still not in the official card database — only the 103 main-set cards, the 30 Classic Collection reprints and the 8 Basic Energy (140 entries) are. That is a smaller base set than the English 128-card count, though English and Japanese share the same underlying artwork per Bulbapedia’s set comparison — only the numbering and pack composition differ.
PokeBeach also reported, from an official box opening shown before release, that one 20-pack box contained 20 of the 30 Pikachu cards (each unique, no duplicates), 2 Classic Collection cards, 4 Illustration Rares (AR), 1 Special Illustration Rare (SAR), and 1 Futuristic Rare (Mew ex or Mewtwo ex). The Pokémon Company has not published official pull rates, and one reported opening is not a guaranteed rate.
Our M6a 30th CELEBRATION Booster Box is currently listed for pre-order at ¥25,000 (~$162) for the Sealed variation; the No Shrink variation is sold out at the time of this update — restock enquiries go through Quick Order. It ships from Tokyo after release — see the product page for the current dispatch date.
Price Per Pack, Converted
The two regions describe their packs differently (English: five foil cards plus one foil Basic Energy; Japanese: six foil cards), so per-pack price is the cleanest way to compare them once currencies are normalised.
| Product | Total price | Packs | Per pack |
|---|---|---|---|
| EN Booster Bundle | $26.94 (≈¥4,280) | 6 | ≈$4.49 (≈¥714) — retailer MSRP math |
| JP 30th CELEBRATION BOX | ¥7,200 | 20 | ¥360 (≈$2.26) — official pack price |
At official/retailer-listed MSRP, the Japanese pack price runs under half the implied English pack price. That gap is worth flagging without overstating it: the English figure is Bill’s Archive/TCGplayer retailer math on a $26.94 bundle price rather than a printed per-pack price, while the Japanese ¥360 is the number printed on the official product page. Neither figure reflects secondary-market pricing at MSRP; the lowest release-day ask for the Japanese BOX on SNKRDUNK sits well above its ¥7,200 MSRP (see below), while the English Booster Bundle remains pre-release.
On SNKRDUNK, the lowest asking price for a sealed M6a box went from ¥47,200 on September 1 to ¥28,200 on September 10 and ¥17,500 on release day, September 16, 2026 — still well above the ¥7,200 MSRP, as release-day listings multiplied. That marketplace ask is separate from our own currently listed pre-order price of ¥25,000 (Sealed); the No Shrink option is sold out at the time of this update.
Availability: US Retail Windows vs Japan’s Lottery
The two products also reach buyers through completely different mechanisms.
In the US, Target’s online pre-orders for 30th Celebration opened 2026-09-16 at 3:00 a.m. EST, with products released “one at a time” rather than all at once, per reporting that cites Polygon. Pokémon Center opened its own pre-orders in July 2026, with the Booster Bundle specifically reported at a 3-per-customer limit in a second pre-order wave — that limit is sourced from a search-snippet of a Pokémon Center-focused report and should be treated as unverified until confirmed live on the retailer’s own page.
In Japan, the 30th CELEBRATION BOX was distributed through Pokémon Center Online’s lottery system rather than open sale. The official M6a product page lists an additional lottery application window of 2026-08-28 12:00 through 2026-08-31 16:59, with results on 2026-09-04 and delivery scheduled 2026-11-11 through 2026-11-20 for BOX winners. That lottery covered the BOX and the Premium Deck Set only — not the FUTURISTIC BOX. No Japanese reprint (再販) of the BOX has been announced. This is a lottery allocation, not a sold-out product.
Why Japanese Anniversary Boxes Are a Different Category
The 30th CELEBRATION BOX being lottery-only is not unusual for a Japanese anniversary box — it follows the same pattern set by the last major anniversary release, the 25th Anniversary line, where sealed boxes became scarce and now carry a premium over original MSRP. Two 25th-anniversary sealed products are currently in our Japanese lineup and illustrate that pattern directly.
The S8a box launched at MSRP well below its current listed price, and the Golden Box now carries an even steeper premium at ¥257,500. It is a useful frame for anyone deciding between the 30th CELEBRATION BOX — currently open for pre-order with us — versus comparable anniversary sealed product that is currently listed. For the full pull-rate and card breakdown of the 25th-anniversary set, see our S8a 25th Anniversary pull rates guide and the dedicated Golden Box guide.
