Mega Lucario ex: The Face of Mega Brave (M1L)
Mega Lucario ex is the cover Pokemon of Mega Brave, the Japanese expansion known by its set code M1L. Released August 1, 2025 alongside its sister set Mega Symphonia (M1S), Mega Brave opened the current Mega-evolution era of the Japanese Pokemon TCG. A single booster pack holds five cards at ¥180, and a sealed booster box holds thirty packs at a retail price of ¥5,400.
Lucario itself dates back to its 2005 movie debut as the Aura Pokemon, and it has anchored a Japanese box-art slot before — most notably in the 2014 XY era, covered further down this guide. Mega Brave is the version collectors are searching for right now, and it’s the one this guide leads with.

The Four Mega Lucario ex Rarities in M1L
Mega Brave prints Mega Lucario ex four separate times, and the number on the card is the only reliable way to tell them apart:

The 092/063 MUR is widely treated as the top chase of the whole set — it’s the only Mega Ultra Rare Mega Lucario ex in Mega Brave, sitting above the SAR and SR in the chase hierarchy. The 088/063 SAR is a step below it, and our 078/063 SR is the accessible graded entry point into the line.
All four printings share the same Mega Lucario ex artwork family, so listings that only say “Mega Lucario ex” without a card number are easy to misprice. Confirm 029, 078, 088, or 092 before comparing to any of the prices below.

Why the PSA10 SR Costs Less Than Our Own Sealed Box
Mega Brave retailed at ¥5,400 per sealed booster box. Our own sealed box is currently listed at ¥10,608 — nearly double retail on the secondary market, less than a year after release. Against that backdrop, our PSA10 Mega Lucario ex SR at ¥8,131 (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) is priced below our own box — a graded copy of a Mega Brave chase card for less than a chance at pulling one.
From the SR, the ladder climbs quickly. Raw SAR copies (088/063) have recently been listed around ¥8,500, with a single recent PSA10 listing near ¥39,800 — treat that as a data point rather than an established price until more listings appear. Our own SAR was last listed at ¥22,124 and is currently out of stock. At the top, the MUR (092/063) has raw copies listed around ¥38,600, a single recent PSA10 listing near ¥139,000, and our own PSA10 copy last sold at ¥148,423 — a consistent six-figure range for the set’s headline card.

The ¥100k Grail: Lucario V SR Showdown Promo
The highest-asking Lucario card in this guide that isn’t from Mega Brave has a specific event history. Lucario V SR (304/S-P) was the league-win prize from the Lucario HR Showdown, a sealed-battle event Japan ran from September 30 to December 31, 2022. Entrants paid ¥2,600 per pre-lottery entry, opened ten packs of the reinforcement expansion Blazing Arcana (S11a), and built a deck on the spot. A participation prize (Jun) went to everyone who entered; the league-winning prize was this Lucario V SR; the top prize was a Lucario VSTAR HR.
That event history is exactly why it trades where it does. Raw copies have recently listed around ¥32,000 (unopened packs from the event around ¥62,000), and PSA10 copies have clustered between ¥100,000 and ¥150,000 across seven-plus recent listings — a wide enough sample of listings to call it a consistent asking range rather than a single data point. Our own PSA10 copy was last listed at ¥100,425, right at the bottom of that band.

VSTAR SAR, the 2014 XY-Era UR & the 2007 Vintage Lv.X
Lucario VSTAR SAR (226/172) comes from VSTAR Universe (s12a), a Japanese high-class pack released December 2022. Raw copies have recently been listed around ¥2,900, with A-grade raw copies reported in the ¥6,000–¥9,000 range and a single recent PSA10 listing near ¥29,500. Our own copy was last listed at ¥17,529 and is currently out of stock.
Lucario’s other box-art moment predates Mega Brave by over a decade. M Lucario EX made its Japanese debut in XY3 “Rising Fist” in 2014, as a UR (105/096) with a first-edition print run. It was later reprinted in the high-class pack THE BEST OF XY at 063/171, plus a secret print at 176/171. The same XY era also produced Mega Lucario-themed sealed products, including a Mega Lucario fighting-type booster box and the Mega Master Deck Build Box “Power Style,” which included its own Lucario EX (018/049). Current asking prices on the 2014 UR and the THE BEST OF XY secret are each backed by only a single recent listing, so we’re not treating either as a settled market price yet.
Further back, the oldest Lucario chase print we could verify is the English Lucario Lv.X, an Ultra Rare from Mysterious Treasures (2007, Diamond & Pearl era). It’s a genuine piece of Lucario’s card history, though we don’t have a verified Japanese product name or number to attach to it.
The M2a Reprint
Mega Lucario ex isn’t confined to Mega Brave. The high-class pack M2a “Mega Dream ex”, released November 28, 2025, carries its own reprint: a regular RR at 092/193 and a mirror-art MA at 228/193. The mirror-art MA has recently traded around ¥1,000, a modest price that reflects M2a’s much larger print run relative to Mega Brave’s launch-set scarcity.
