Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y were each printed as their own MリザードンEX, and the set stamp and card number identify which one you’re holding, since neither form is printed “X” or “Y” directly on the card.
The X form has three printings: the Wild Blaze RR (055/080) and UR (089/080) from 2014, and the 011/072 from the 20th Anniversary Starter Pack, which we currently carry graded PSA 10 for ¥142,408, with two copies currently listed.
The Y form has four printings: Wild Blaze UR (088/080), a 2014 mega battle deck exclusive (002/021), and two 2016 printings from CP6 20th Anniversary — an RR at 013/087 and the SR at 091/087, which is the single highest-priced card in this entire guide. All seven printings across both forms carry 5ban Graphics illustration, so artwork alone won’t tell you which one you have — the set stamp and card number will.

CP6 was a 20th-anniversary tribute set that re-ran the visual identity of Pokemon’s original expansion pack packaging, and 091/087 sits past the set’s official /087 count, the traditional marker of a Japanese secret rare. Combine an anniversary-set release with the fact that Mega Charizard is one of the most recognizable Pokemon in the game, and you get a card that sits far above every other Mega Charizard printing in either era.

The Current Era, Part 1: MEGA Charizard X ex
The 2025–launched MEGA era treats Mega Charizard X as its own card line entirely separate from the XY-era MリザードンEX: メガリザードンXex. It’s the headline card of M2 “Inferno X”, released September 26, 2025, and it exists in five printings — four from the M2 booster set plus a fifth (MA) from the follow-up high-class pack M2a “MEGA Dream ex” that November.
The special art rare (SAR) 110/080 is the one collectors chase from booster boxes — we list graded PSA 10 copies at ¥184,984, with seven copies currently listed.
Above the SAR sits the MUR 116/080, M2’s single highest rarity slot and the set’s designated top pull. We have five copies currently listed at ¥501,198 each, available by request via Quick Order rather than a direct product link on this page.

The Current Era, Part 2: MEGA Charizard Y ex
Mega Charizard Y’s current-era counterpart, メガリザードンYex, took a different route to market. It never appeared in a booster pack — it’s exclusive to MC “MEGA Start Deck 100 Battle Collection”, released December 19, 2025, a random-deck product where each box contains one of 100 possible pre-built decks. That structure gives it three printings instead of the more typical booster-driven rarity spread: a normal version, a mirror-foil version, and a numbered “M” secret variant.

One card that regularly gets grouped in with the Mega Charizard family is the Charizard EX promo, 030/XY-P — but it isn’t actually a Mega Charizard printing. It’s a standard Charizard EX (not MリザードンEX) whose attack references “Mega Shinka” (Mega Evolution) rather than depicting the Mega form itself. Retailer listings commonly trace its distribution to a 2014 CoroCoro Comic magazine bundle, though we haven’t been able to confirm the distribution channel against an official source.
