One Piece magazine promo cards are cards bundled with a print magazine rather than pulled from a booster pack — and “magazine promo” actually covers at least two different, unrelated bundles. One is a Japanese manga-magazine tie-in card handed out with an issue of a print magazine; the other is an English-language collector magazine’s own exclusive card. The PSA10 Monkey D. Luffy SR [ST21-014] is tied to “ONE PIECE magazine” Volume 20, set next to the other confirmed magazine tie-ins in the ONE PIECE CARD GAME.
The PSA10 Monkey D. Luffy SR [ST21-014] is the “ONE PIECE magazine” x Weekly Shonen Jump Vol. 20 promo. A second Japanese Luffy promo — Monkey D Luffy PROMO P-159, tied by its own product listing to Shonen Jump and a 29th Anniversary release — is a separate card; don’t confuse the two.

What Are One Piece Magazine Promo Cards?
In the ONE PIECE CARD GAME, a promo is defined by how it was distributed, not by what set it’s stamped with. A magazine promo is one specific distribution route inside that broader promo category: the card ships bundled with, or as a purchase bonus for, a print magazine, rather than being pulled from a sealed booster pack. Bandai and its licensing partners have run this playbook more than once, and the bundles are not interchangeable — a magazine promo from a Japanese manga anthology and a magazine promo from an English-language collector publication are two separate cards with two separate stories.
Promo distribution in general also runs through tournament prizes and retail collaborations — our complete One Piece promo cards guide covers the tournament-prize side (Bandai’s Flagship Battle tiers) in full, and our Flagship Battle promo cards guide and Round1 collaboration promo guide break down those other channels card by card.
A closely related guide on our site, One Piece Promo Cards from Japan: Magazine & Event Guide, covers one confirmed Japanese magazine promo (P-159) alongside a non-card event collectible.
PSA10 Monkey D. Luffy SR [ST21-014], the ONE PIECE Magazine Vol. 20 Promo

The card’s own listing title spells out exactly what it is: “Promotional Card: ONE PIECE magazine Special Feature Weekly Shonen Jump & ONE PIECE 020.” That points to a specific bundle — this card was packaged with “ONE PIECE magazine” Volume 20, a Japanese print magazine tie-in built around the shared history between the One Piece manga and Weekly Shonen Jump, the anthology that has serialised One Piece since it began. Retail and resale listings describing this bundle consistently note that the shared-history framing runs to 28 years, and that the card’s artwork is reported to draw inspiration from the cover of Volume 1 of the One Piece manga.
The card’s own printed description names the bundle it came from and the rarity it carries: a SR Luffy print, graded PSA 10. Our One Piece card rarity explained guide covers what the SR letter means on the wider rarity ladder.
A Different Magazine, A Different Card: PSA Magazine’s Luffy OP05-060

This is the officially documented half of the magazine-promo story. The ONE PIECE Card Game’s official English site confirmed a collaboration with PSA Magazine (TCG and Pop Culture Edition), announced June 28, 2024, bundling an exclusive-illustration Monkey D. Luffy Leader card [OP05-060], depicting a Land of Wano-arc scene, with the magazine. Bandai’s own description of the tie-in is direct: it’s exclusive to that specific magazine issue, and it was described as the first collaboration between the English-language ONE PIECE Card Game and PSA Magazine.
OP05-060 is not the same card as ST21-014, and they should never be conflated: different magazine, different publisher, different language market, different card entirely. The magazine-promo format has been used more than once, by more than one publisher, for more than one Luffy card.
A Third Data Point: P-159 and Shonen Jump
A third card sits in a card game numbering line entirely of its own: P-159, a Monkey D. Luffy promo. Its own product listing ties it to Shonen Jump and a 29th Anniversary release.
P-159 is a separate card again from both ST21-014 and OP05-060 — three different Luffy promos, none of them interchangeable. The P-159 (No Holo) single, Monkey D Luffy PROMO P-159, is currently listed at ¥1,254 (~$8) for the Promo only option and ¥1,386 (~$9) with the magazine.

Three Magazine Tie-Ins, Side by Side
Laid out together, the differences between these three “magazine promo” cards are easier to track than they are to keep straight from memory:
| Card | Magazine | Language | Listing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monkey D. Luffy SR, ST21-014 SR | “ONE PIECE magazine” Vol. 20 | Japanese | PSA10, ¥33,310 (~$216) |
| Monkey D. Luffy Leader, OP05-060 | PSA Magazine (TCG and Pop Culture Edition) | English | PSA10, ¥137,107 (~$890) |
| Monkey D. Luffy, P-159 P | Shonen Jump (29th Anniversary) | Japanese | No Holo |
Two things stand out. First, every one of the three cards features Monkey D. Luffy — magazine tie-ins gravitate toward the series lead, across languages and across publishers. Second, the ST21-014 and P-159 rows are both Japanese magazine bundles but carry different card numbers under different numbering systems (a standard set-style code versus a dedicated P- promo number), which is exactly the kind of detail that gets lost when a listing just says “magazine promo” without naming the issue.
How Magazine Promos Fit Into One Piece Card Game Distribution
Magazine bundles are one lane among several the ONE PIECE CARD GAME uses to distribute promo cards outside sealed booster and starter product. The others include tournament prizes — Bandai’s own Flagship Battle event pays out on a fixed tier structure that our Flagship Battle promo cards guide documents in full — and retail collaborations, where a non-card-shop chain partners with Bandai to hand out cards through its own locations, covered in our Round1 collaboration promo guide. Bandai posts official promo news at its topics page. The PSA Magazine tie-in is officially confirmed via Bandai’s own page, while P-159’s Shonen Jump/29th Anniversary connection rests on the card’s own product listing rather than a dedicated Bandai news post.
What all three magazine promos share structurally is the same principle that separates any promo from a booster pull: you get the card by buying or receiving a specific piece of print media, not by opening a random pack.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a One Piece magazine promo card?
It’s a card distributed bundled with, or as a purchase bonus for, a print magazine rather than pulled from a booster pack. Confirmed examples include the Monkey D. Luffy SR (ST21-014) from “ONE PIECE magazine” Vol. 20, the PSA Magazine’s Monkey D. Luffy Leader (OP05-060), and P-159, tied by its own product listing to Shonen Jump and a 29th Anniversary release.
Is the ST21-014 Luffy the same card as the PSA Magazine’s OP05-060 Luffy?
No. They are two different cards from two different magazine tie-ins — ST21-014 came with “ONE PIECE magazine” Volume 20, a Japanese manga-tie-in magazine, while OP05-060 is exclusive to PSA Magazine (TCG and Pop Culture Edition), an English-language collector publication. Different magazine, different publisher, different card.
What rarity is the ST21-014 magazine promo?
It’s an SR-rarity Monkey D. Luffy print.
What’s the difference between P-159 and the ST21-014 magazine promo?
Both feature Monkey D. Luffy and carry different card numbers under different numbering systems. P-159’s own product listing ties it to Shonen Jump and a 29th Anniversary release, distributed under the P- promo numbering line; ST21-014 is tied to a separate “ONE PIECE magazine” Volume 20 bundle under a standard set-style card number.
