Pitch Black chase cards come from a Japanese set called Abyss Eye (M5), which reached Japan on May 22, 2026, about two months before Pitch Black released in English on July 17, 2026. Pitch Black is an English-only name, and the two lineups overlap card for card only in part.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Japanese version of Pitch Black?
M5 Abyss Eye (アビスアイ). It released in Japan on May 22, 2026, about two months before Pitch Black’s English release on July 17, 2026. Bulbapedia notes that Pitch Black includes cards released in the Japanese Abyss Eye expansion, and the two sets overlap in part rather than card for card.
Do all 120 Pitch Black cards have a Japanese Abyss Eye equivalent?
No. The official database lists 118 Abyss Eye cards against 120 on Limitless TCG’s Pitch Black list, and the lineups do not match one to one. For example, the Art Rare Zarude (M5 090) has no Pitch Black Art Rare counterpart, and the English Art Rare run has eleven cards against Abyss Eye’s twelve.
Which Mega Darkrai ex card had the highest ask on September 30, 2026?
The MUR at M5 118/081 in Japanese, PBL 120 in English, illustrated by 5ban Graphics. Its lowest SNKRDUNK ask ranked first as of September 30, 2026, and the lowest PSA 10 ask was ¥58,700 (~$381). These are asking prices, not sales, and they change.
Are the English and Japanese versions the same artwork?
For each of the 12 mapped pairs, the credited illustrator is the same on the Japanese print and the English print, per Limitless TCG and the official Japanese card database as of September 30, 2026. Neither source states whether the artwork is identical, so match a card by its number and illustrator.
Does The Pokemon Company publish pull rates for Pitch Black or Abyss Eye?
No. The Japanese product page says only that cards are inserted at random, and the English Pitch Black page says that cards vary by pack. Neither page prints a rate, a per-box guarantee or a box configuration for the chase prints, so any figure you see elsewhere is not from the publisher.
How many cards does the official English page list?
pokemon.com prints “Over 115” cards for Pitch Black and a July 17, 2026 release date. Limitless TCG counts 120 cards (84 main run plus 36 secret rares) and Bulbapedia also lists 120. The exact size is not printed on the official English page as of September 30, 2026.
Where can I buy the Japanese Abyss Eye versions of these cards?
The M5 booster box is currently listed with the Sealed and No Shrink options. PSA 10 back orders are offered for the Mega Darkrai ex MUR and the SAR, and other cards can be requested through Quick Order.
