Shiny Collection is a Japanese Pokemon TCG concept pack — officially “コンセプトパック シャイニーコレクション” in Japanese, “Shiny Collection” in English, set code SC. It released February 1, 2013, during the Black & White (BW) era, as a smaller, off-cycle side-release sitting alongside the numbered BW main sets.
Bulbapedia groups Shiny Collection with two other BW-era subsets — Dragon Selection and EX Battle Boost — as one of three concept-pack-style releases from that period. Unlike the later, numbered “CP1” through “CP6” concept pack line that ran through the following XY era, Shiny Collection was never assigned a CP number; it stands as its own, earlier release using a similar smaller-format approach.
Set Structure: 25 Cards, One Numbering Quirk
Shiny Collection totals 25 cards: 20 regular numbered cards plus 5 secret rares. Shiny Collection shipped in small packs: 4 cards per pack at ¥189, with 15 packs per box at ¥2,835. That’s a noticeably smaller pack format than a standard Japanese booster pack, consistent with concept packs being positioned as a boutique, collector-focused product rather than a mainline expansion.
Who Was Shiny Collection Made For?
Bulbapedia describes Shiny Collection’s packaging and illustration style as marketed primarily toward young female collectors, with a design language distinct from the mainline BW sets it released alongside. The set reused the “Bubble Holofoil” pattern that debuted in the earlier Beginning Set, and each card is noted as carrying its own individual watermark.

One quirk worth flagging: Meloetta EX appears twice in Shiny Collection — once as a Rare at #11 in the main numbered run, and again as the Secret Rare at #25. They are different printings of the same Pokemon within the same set, and the number on the card is how you tell them apart. Note that the ordinary-looking rarities here — a Common and an Uncommon — are worth just as much attention as the secret rare. Common and Uncommon Shiny Collection cards in PSA 10, 1st Edition condition are a narrower slice of the population than the card’s base rarity suggests, since low-rarity cards from small-print concept packs are rarely submitted for grading in the first place.
Don’t Confuse This With “Shining Legends”
The name overlap trips up a lot of searches: Shiny Collection (set code SC, released February 1, 2013, part of the Black & White era) is a completely different product from Shining Legends (Japanese set SM3+, released July 15, 2017, part of the Sun & Moon era). Different release year, different card generation, different set code, different card pool. If a listing says “Shining Legends” but shows Shiny Collection artwork or numbering — or vice versa — something is mislabeled.
International Release: Legendary Treasures’ Radiant Collection
Shiny Collection was never released as its own English-language product. Its cards were later reprinted internationally as the Radiant Collection subset inside the English-language Legendary Treasures expansion — a 25-card RC1–RC25 subset covering the full rarity range of the original Japanese set, from commons and uncommons through secret-rare chases, not a secret-rares-only selection. Radiant Collection cards use their own RC numbering and finish, so they’re a distinct printing rather than a straight reprint. If you’re specifically after the Japanese Shiny Collection printings — including the 1st Edition stamp — those only exist within the original February 2013 Japanese release.
Where Shiny Collection Sits in the Timeline
Shiny Collection released in the middle of Japan’s Black & White era, which ran from BW1 in December 2010 through BW9 in March 2013, plus its concept-pack-style subsets. The era wound down later that same year with EX Battle Boost (July 2013), which brought back the EX card mechanic ahead of the next generation.
