Cresselia doesn’t have a single defining print the way some Legendaries do. Among its Cresselia full art cards, the 2024 Night Wanderer AR is the one art-rarity print here. The line has five prints, spread across a two-piece LEGEND card from 2010, an LV.X from 2008, and three modern reprints, two of which share the same ability name. Sorting out which is which matters if you’re buying.

Five Cresselia prints are covered in this guide, spanning 2008 to 2024. The rarest is the two-piece Darkrai & Cresselia LEGEND. The rest of the lineup runs from the 2008 LV.X through three current-era reprints, two of which carry the Crescent Grow ability.

Cresselia Full Art Cards: The Japanese Night Wanderer AR Print
Collectors use “full art” for prints whose artwork fills the whole card face. Japanese sets do not print those words: the official card database prints only a rarity code, and the full-art treatments are the SR (full-art ex and Supporter cards), SAR (Special Art Rare), AR (Art Rare), CHR / CSR (Character Rare) and the gold UR and rainbow HR printings. This page lists every Cresselia print of those rarities that our Japanese database checks cover.
Cresselia AR, SV6a 071/064, from Night Wanderer, illustrated by satoma, is the one art-rarity print in this guide; the Sealed option of the SV6a Night Wanderer booster box is currently listed at ¥12,985 (~$84). For how full-art treatments work across sets, see our full art Pokemon cards guide.
Every Cresselia Print in This Guide
Five prints, from the 2010 Japanese LEGEND release through the current Night Wanderer art rare:
| Card | Number | Rarity | Set | Year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Darkrai & Cresselia LEGEND | HGSS4 #99/#100 (EN) | Ultra Rare | Triumphant (EN) / Lost Link (JP) | 2010 (JP) |
| Cresselia LV.X | GE 103 (EN) | Ultra Rare | Great Encounters (EN) | 2008 |
| Cresselia | S6K 029/070 | R | Jet-Black Spirit | 2021 |
| Cresselia | S8b 069/184 | Mirror reprint (High Class Pack slot) | VMAX Climax | 2021 |
| Cresselia AR | SV6a 071/064 | AR | Night Wanderer | 2024 |
The LEGEND and LV.X sit apart from the rest — both are English-documented Ultra Rares from the Diamond & Pearl and HeartGold & SoulSilver years that predate Cresselia’s current ability. Two of the three younger cards carry the same Crescent Grow ability under different rarity tiers; the 2024 AR breaks the pattern with a different ability and attack set, which is where a lot of buyers get the prints mixed up.
The Chase Card: Darkrai & Cresselia LEGEND
The rarest card in this guide isn’t a single card at all. LEGEND cards from the HeartGold & SoulSilver era are printed as two physical halves that combine into one Pokemon, and Darkrai & Cresselia is one of those pairs — the top half and bottom half have to be played together to function as a single card.
In English, that’s Triumphant (HGSS4) #99 and #100, printed as Ultra Rares. In Japan, the same card released in 2010 in the set our listing identifies as “Lost Link.” Our inventory catalogues this pair as LL 035-036/040.
Card text, from the English printing: the combined Darkrai & Cresselia LEGEND is a Darkness/Psychic-type with 150 HP. Its attack, Lost Crisis, deals 100 damage for four energy and sends the Knocked Out Pokemon to the Lost Zone instead of the discard pile — a mechanic distinct from a normal knockout. Its second attack, New Moon Invitation, moves damage counters between your opponent’s Pokemon. The card is illustrated by Shinji Higuchi.
A LEGEND card only works as a matched top-and-bottom pair — owning just one half doesn’t give you a playable card. For a broader look at how the format was used across the HGSS era, see our Pokemon LEGEND cards guide. Darkrai’s side of this specific pairing gets its own deeper writeup in our Darkrai cards guide.
Our Darkrai & Cresselia LEGEND 035-036/040 Lost Link card guide covers this pairing in full.
Cresselia LV.X: The Great Encounters Original
Two years before the LEGEND pairing, Cresselia got a solo Ultra Rare: Cresselia LV.X, from the English-language Great Encounters set (#103), released in 2008.
Cresselia LV.X is a Psychic-type, 100 HP, Level Up card illustrated by Shizurow. Its Poke-Power, Full Moon Dance, lets you move a single damage counter between Pokemon in play once per turn (it can’t be used while Cresselia is affected by a Special Condition). Its attack, Moon Skip, does 40 damage for three energy, and if that attack knocks out the Defending Pokemon, you take an extra Prize card.
LV.X cards level up from a base-form Pokemon already in play rather than being played as a standalone card — a mechanic specific to the Diamond & Pearl era that was later replaced by other evolution formats in later sets. That makes Cresselia LV.X a card most collectors will recognize from that specific period rather than from Cresselia’s more recent appearances.
Crescent Grow: Cresselia’s Modern Reprints
Two of Cresselia’s most recent Japanese prints share one ability — Crescent Grow — first printed in the 2021 Jet-Black Spirit expansion pack.

Cresselia (S6K 029/070, R), illustrated by Tika Matsuno, is a Psychic-type, 120 HP Basic Pokemon. Its ability, Crescent Grow, attaches a Psychic Energy from the deck to one of your Pokemon — and if it’s used on your first turn going second, you can attach up to three instead of one. Its attack, Photon Laser, deals 30 damage for two Psychic energy, with a bonus 90 damage if there are five or more energy in play across the board.
The same year, VMAX Climax (S8b 069/184) reprinted the card into its high-class pack lineup, carrying the same Crescent Grow ability.
The most recent print is Cresselia AR (SV6a 071/064), illustrated by satoma, from the 2024 Night Wanderer expansion pack. This one carries a different pair of attacks instead of the Crescent Grow ability: Healing Pirouette restores 20 HP to each of your Pokemon for one Psychic energy, while Crescent Purge deals 80 damage for three Psychic energy, with the option to flip one of your face-down Prize cards face up for an additional 80 damage. A standard-rarity version of the same card sits at SV6a 021/064 in the same set.
Vintage Chase Card vs. Current-Era Reprint
The decade-plus gap between the vintage pair and the modern reprints matters more than it looks. The LEGEND and LV.X are Diamond & Pearl/HGSS-era Ultra Rares built around mechanics — the two-piece format and Level Up cards — that Pokemon TCG stopped using years ago.
The Crescent Grow group is a different kind of collecting target. All three modern reprints come from sets we still carry as sealed product, including Night Wanderer’s booster boxes. If you’re chasing a specific art rare or reprint rather than a period piece, sealed product from the current set is the direct route.
For collectors mapping where either type of Cresselia print fits against the wider Japanese card market, our most valuable Japanese Pokemon cards guide covers how prints like the LEGEND pairing compare to other high-end Japanese chase cards, and our Japanese old-back Pokemon cards guide covers the earlier printing era that predates all five Cresselia prints in this guide.

Which Cresselia cards are full art?

What is a LEGEND card, and how does the Darkrai & Cresselia pairing work?
LEGEND cards from the HeartGold & SoulSilver era are printed as two physical halves — a top half and a bottom half — that combine to form a single playable Pokemon. Darkrai & Cresselia LEGEND is one such pairing. Our Pokemon LEGEND cards guide covers the format in more detail.
What is Cresselia LV.X and how is it different from the modern prints?
Cresselia LV.X (Great Encounters #103, 2008) is a Diamond & Pearl-era Level Up card with the Poke-Power Full Moon Dance and the attack Moon Skip. It predates the Crescent Grow ability used on two of Cresselia’s three modern reprints and uses a leveling mechanic that later Pokemon TCG sets stopped using.
Is the Crescent Grow ability the same on every modern Cresselia print?
Crescent Grow and the attack Photon Laser first appeared together on the 2021 Jet-Black Spirit printing (S6K 029/070) and were reprinted the same year in VMAX Climax (S8b 069/184).
