Two rarities in the 30th CELEBRATION expansion carry a name you won’t find on any other Pokémon card in the set: YOSHIROTTEN. He isn’t a Pokémon illustrator by trade — he’s a Tokyo-based graphic artist known for large-scale installations and speculative-fiction visual language — and the Pokémon Company brought him in specifically to give the 30th anniversary’s headline chase cards a look nothing else in the catalogue has.
YOSHIROTTEN is credited on the two FUR (Futuristic Rare) cards in the M6a booster set, the FUTURISTIC BOX promo pair, the eight Basic Energy cards and the supply-set design work around them. PokeBeach also reports three YOSHIROTTEN-illustrated Mew secret rares that Pokemon had not officially attributed at release. The FUR cards are Mewtwo ex 134/103 and Mew ex 135/103, and the FUTURISTIC BOX promos are Pikachu ex 131/M-P and 132/M-P.
YOSHIROTTEN illustrated exactly four 30th CELEBRATION cards confirmed by the official page — Mewtwo ex FUR (134/103), Mew ex FUR (135/103), and the two Pikachu ex FUR-style promos (131/M-P, 132/M-P) from the FUTURISTIC BOX — plus all eight Basic Energy cards, one guaranteed per M6a pack and listed in the official card database under his name as of September 16, 2026. He is also credited (per PokeBeach, not an official source) with three further secret Mew cards — R/RGB, G/RGB and B/RGB — reported pulled from early-opened 30th Celebration products.

Who Is YOSHIROTTEN?
The official 30th CELEBRATION artist page describes YOSHIROTTEN as born in 1983, an artist whose work blends light and matter, spirituality and empiricism, and ancient and future concepts into a single coexisting worldview, drawing on an intuitive sensitivity to both nature and technology. In recent years his series have researched fundamental subjects — colour, the Earth, the sun — to explore a science-fiction-inflected visual language, the same language the Pokémon Company brought into the 30th CELEBRATION set.
His listed solo exhibitions include FUTURE NATURE (2018, TOLOT heuristic SHINONOME, roughly a 1,300 m² installation), SUN (2023, National Stadium’s large vehicle car park), Radial Graphics Bio (2024, Ginza Graphic Gallery), and FUTURE NATURE II in Kagoshima (2024, Kirishima Open-Air Museum). His own site adds that he works across fine art, commercial art, and digital and physical media through a studio called YR, active in Tokyo, London and Berlin, and that his “SUN” series, running since 2021, comprises 365 digital images shown as installations, aluminium prints, an NFT release, vinyl and a book. Both official 30th CELEBRATION product pages call him simply “graphic artist YOSHIROTTEN” — no Pokémon-specific illustration credits appear on his own site, which makes this commission a departure from a portfolio built around installations rather than trading-card work.
The FUR Cards: Mewtwo ex & Mew ex
The headline commission is FUR — Futuristic Rare (フューチャリスティックレア) — a new rarity created specifically for the 30th CELEBRATION booster set (M6a). Only two cards carry it: Mewtwo ex at 134/103 and Mew ex at 135/103. The official product page credits both to YOSHIROTTEN by name, describing the FUR treatment as visuals meant to “evoke hope for an unknown future” (未知なる未来への希望を喚起する、色鮮やかなビジュアル).
Each FUR card has a regular-art counterpart printed at a different number in the same set — Mewtwo ex also appears as 055/103 RR and Mew ex as 057/103 RR — but those regular prints are not credited to YOSHIROTTEN; only the FUR versions carry his name on the official page. Community wiki Bulbapedia also describes the FUR treatment as using vivid colours and 3D graphical elements themed around Energy and Poké Balls with special lighting effects; that description is Bulbapedia’s own characterisation rather than official Pokémon Company wording.
Before release, Japanese market sites forecast (altema, September 9, 2026) Mew ex FUR around ¥105,000–220,000 and Mewtwo ex FUR around ¥105,000–200,000. The lowest release-day asks on SNKRDUNK were ¥22,222 for Mew ex FUR and ¥17,999 for Mewtwo ex FUR (September 16, 2026).
YOSHIROTTEN’s Mew work in this set may not stop at 135/103. Per PokeBeach (report of September 12, 2026, updated September 15), three secret-rare Mew cards — one red, one green, one blue, numbered R/RGB, G/RGB and B/RGB and outside the /103 run — were pulled from early-opened 30th Celebration products and illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN. They surfaced in a Pokémon TCG Live update on September 15 and are not in the official card database or the compiled 165-card list; Pokemon had not officially attributed or acknowledged them as of PokeBeach’s updated report, which expected that to continue for months. No pull rate or price had been published as of that updated report.
The FUTURISTIC BOX Pikachu ex Promos
YOSHIROTTEN’s second card commission sits outside the M6a booster entirely, inside a standalone supply product called the 30th CELEBRATION FUTURISTIC BOX (MSRP ¥27,500, released alongside the M6a set). The box’s two included promos, Pikachu ex 131/M-P and 132/M-P, are described on the official page as “FUR仕様” — FUR-style — and the same paragraph names YOSHIROTTEN as illustrator in the same breath as the Mew ex and Mewtwo ex FUR cards from the booster set: “拡張パック「30th CELEBRATION」に収録されるFURのミュウexやミュウツーexと同じく、グラフィックアーティストのYOSHIROTTEN氏がイラストを制作” — “designed by the same artist, YOSHIROTTEN, who did the FUR Mew ex and Mewtwo ex in the 30th CELEBRATION booster set.”
Note the terminology: the official text calls these promos “FUR仕様” (FUR-style), not the FUR rarity itself — the printed rarity symbol on 131/132 isn’t confirmed, so treat “FUR-style” as a design description rather than a rarity name. Japanese media describe the pair as a bright/night contrast — one card with a whitish, brighter background and a jumping, smiling Pikachu, the other with a cooler, night-inspired visual — but the official page itself doesn’t label them “day” and “night,” and it is not confirmed whether either shares game text with the M6a Pikachu ex SAR pair at 126/103 and 127/103.
The official page listed the FUTURISTIC BOX as sold only through Pokémon Center Online and noted that Pokémon Center and Pokémon Store locations might carry it later. Its first PCO lottery already closed (applications 2026-08-10–08-14, results 2026-08-21). A further PCO additional lottery ran September 11, 16:00 through September 16, 16:59 JST, with results scheduled for September 30 — per SNKRDUNK’s lottery roundup (September 9, 2026).
Our FUTURISTIC BOX listing is sold out at the time of this update — sourcing requests go through Quick Order. On SNKRDUNK, the lowest asking price for a sealed FUTURISTIC BOX fell from ¥115,000 on September 1 to ¥95,998 on September 10 and ¥49,500 on release day, September 16, 2026.
The Basic Energy Cards
YOSHIROTTEN’s widest-reaching credit isn’t a chase rare at all — it’s the humble Basic Energy card. The M6a official page states plainly: “各パックにつき1枚、基本エネルギーが確定で封入!これらもYOSHIROTTEN氏による特別デザインだ!” — one Basic Energy guaranteed in every pack, and it’s also a special YOSHIROTTEN design. As of the M6a release day, all eight energy types (Grass, Fire, Water, Lightning, Psychic, Fighting, Darkness, Metal) were also listed in the official M6a card database, credited to YOSHIROTTEN with no collection number, and Bulbapedia adds that they share the same artistic style as the Futuristic Rare cards. These aren’t a separate “special energy” card type — they’re standard Basic Energy cards, just redesigned by YOSHIROTTEN and printed foil.

Card numbers for the eight energies aren’t printed as text on the official page, so they’re best treated as unnumbered inserts.
Beyond the Cards: Supplies, Key Visual & Outside Work
YOSHIROTTEN’s design credit extends past the cardstock. The official page describes the FUTURISTIC BOX itself as “YOSHIROTTEN氏のデザインを取り入れた対戦サプライセット” — a battle-supply set built around his design, covering deck shields, the flip deck case, display frame, half-size rubber playmat, damage-counter dice and markers, all styled to match the FUR cards inside.
Community wiki Bulbapedia additionally credits YOSHIROTTEN with the set’s key visual artwork — the header image used across official marketing — though that specific claim comes from Bulbapedia rather than an official Pokémon Company statement, so treat it as sourced but unofficial.
His profile grew further during the release run-up: fan outlet Pokébeach reported that TPCi/Creatures published a short interview with him on how light influenced his Futuristic Rare and Basic Energy illustrations, and that a foil Basic Energy card — identical to the pack version — was given away at the 30th Celebration booth during PokemonXP (the World Championships) on August 28–30, 2026.
Why YOSHIROTTEN’s Pokemon Cards Matter for Collectors
FUR is a brand-new rarity created for exactly one set, and only two cards carry it — a single-set rarity paired with a named outside artist is unusual even by Japanese TCG standards, which is part of why Mewtwo ex FUR and Mew ex FUR drew early attention before any sales data existed.
For collectors who would rather open packs than buy a single, the FUR cards and the Basic Energy designs come from M6a booster packs.
