Japanese Pokémon rarity tiers do not change often. When they do, the new tier usually ends up defining an era — and on September 16, 2026, the 30th CELEBRATION set (M6a) introduced exactly that kind of change: FUR, the Futuristic Rare.
Only two FUR cards are confirmed in the set. Both are drawn by a graphic artist from outside the TCG’s regular illustrator pool, per the official artist page, both sit above the set’s SAR slots in the secret numbering, and neither has a pull rate anyone outside The Pokémon Company actually knows. This guide collects everything that is officially confirmed about FUR, separates it from what fan sites are merely predicting, and puts the new tier in context against the SAR and UR cards we grade-check and ship from Tokyo every week.
FUR (フューチャリスティックレア / Futuristic Rare) debuts in M6a 30th CELEBRATION with two cards: Mewtwo ex 134/103 and Mew ex 135/103, both by graphic artist YOSHIROTTEN. Pull rates are officially unpublished. The set’s M6a booster box is currently listed with us as a pre-order at ¥25,000 (~$162); the No Shrink option is sold out at the time of this update, and orders ship from Tokyo after release — while comparable chase-tier cards like the PSA10 Mew ex SAR 347/190 (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) are sold out at the time of this update.
30th CELEBRATION (M6a) released worldwide on September 16, 2026. All 32 secret rares (104–135) have now been seen — the last five (119 Kommo-o AR, 121 Ditto AR, 128 Mewtwo ex SAR, 129 Mew ex SAR, 131 Gengar ex SAR) surfaced with release-day listings on SNKRDUNK — but the block is still not in the official card database. FUR cards are now trading: the lowest release-day ask on SNKRDUNK was ¥22,222 for Mew ex FUR and ¥17,999 for Mewtwo ex FUR (September 16, 2026), well below the pre-release forecasts quoted below. Store availability: the M6a booster box is still listed with us as a pre-order — Sealed ¥25,000 (~$162); the No Shrink option is sold out at the time of this update.
Full card list: every card of the set with its official image, in number order — 30th CELEBRATION (M6a) card list (all 173 cards).
- Confirmed: the five secret rares that had never been pictured — Kommo-o AR 119, Ditto AR 121, Mewtwo ex SAR 128, Mew ex SAR 129, Gengar ex SAR 131 — surfaced at exactly the numbers PokeBeach had projected, with release-day listings (SNKRDUNK, September 16, 2026); the compiled 165-card structure held.
- Confirmed: the “RGB Mew” — three secret Mew cards (R/RGB, G/RGB, B/RGB, by YOSHIROTTEN, outside the /103 run) were pulled from early-opened products and surfaced in a Pokémon TCG Live update on September 15, per PokeBeach; not in any official list, pull rate unknown.
- Overshot: pre-release forecasts of ¥105,000+ for Mew ex FUR met a lowest release-day ask of ¥22,222 on SNKRDUNK (an asking price, not a sold price).
Pre-release forecast figures below are converted at ¥159/USD (unchanged from when they were first quoted); release-day marketplace asks use ¥154/USD. M6a has now released; FUR figures dated before release are labelled as forecasts, release-day marketplace asks are labelled with their date, and store prices are current listings.
What Is FUR? The Official Definition
FUR stands for フューチャリスティックレア — Futuristic Rare. It is a brand-new rarity announced on the official 30th anniversary site under the heading “新たなレアリティ FUR登場!” (“A new rarity: FUR arrives!”).
The official product page describes FUR cards as cards with vivid, colourful visuals that evoke hope toward an unknown future, and confirms that the illustrations were drawn specifically for this release by YOSHIROTTEN, a graphic artist — the page’s exact framing is that the art was 描き下ろし (newly drawn) for the 30th anniversary milestone. PokeBeach’s English coverage of the reveal quotes the same positioning: each Futuristic Rare depicts Pokémon “in striking artwork evocative of hope toward an unknown future”. Bulbapedia adds that FUR cards display vivid colours and lighting with 3D graphical elements — a community paraphrase, but consistent with the official imagery.
One detail collectors keep missing: the FUR look extends past the two chase cards. The official page confirms that every pack contains one basic energy card, and that all eight energies use the same special YOSHIROTTEN design language as the FURs. If you want the full picture of how this rarity fits into the wider anniversary line-up, start with our Pokémon 30th anniversary cards guide.
The Two FUR Cards: Mewtwo ex 134/103 and Mew ex 135/103
Only two FUR cards are confirmed inside M6a boosters, and they are a deliberate pair: the franchise’s original genetic duo.

Mewtwo ex 134/103 FUR attacks on two fronts: a spread attack that hits every opposing Pokémon ex for 50 damage, and a 230-damage Psychic Force that locks its own attacks the following turn. Its regular-art twin is the Mewtwo ex RR at 055/103. We break the card down fully in our Mewtwo ex FUR card guide.

Mew ex 135/103 FUR carries the officially highlighted ability きおくのらせん, which lets it use the attacks of every Pokémon on your bench — a callback mechanic wrapped in the FUR artwork. Its regular version is the Mew ex RR at 057/103. Full breakdown in our Mew ex FUR card guide.
Before release, snkrdunk’s prediction desk (updated August 29, 2026) forecast ¥150,000+ (~$943) market and ¥105,000 buyback for each FUR. On release day the picture changed: the lowest asking price on SNKRDUNK was ¥22,222 (~$144) for Mew ex FUR 135/103 and ¥17,999 (~$117) for Mewtwo ex FUR 134/103, both dated September 16, 2026 — well below the pre-release forecast. Our 30th Celebration chase-card list tracks how those figures have moved.
A dated, non-prediction figure for the sealed product: on SNKRDUNK the lowest asking price for a sealed M6a box went from ¥47,200 on September 1 to ¥28,200 on September 10 and ¥17,500 on release day, September 16, 2026 — still about 2.4× the ¥7,200 MSRP, as release-day listings multiplied. That is a live marketplace ask for the sealed box, not a FUR-card prediction.
FUR Beyond the Booster Box: FUTURISTIC BOX Promos
The booster set is not the only home of the new rarity. The official FUTURISTIC BOX product page confirms two Pikachu ex promos numbered 131/M-P and 132/M-P in “FUR specification” (FUR仕様) — the same YOSHIROTTEN treatment applied to promo cards exclusive to that box. That makes four FUR-treatment cards known across the whole 30th anniversary line: two in boosters, two as box promos. Our FUTURISTIC BOX guide covers the product itself, which was lottery-allocated in Japan rather than openly sold.
Where FUR Sits in the 30th Celebration Numbering
M6a’s base set runs to 103 cards, with secret rares numbered above it in the familiar Japanese “xxx/103” style. The main set (001–103), the 30 Classic Collection reprints and the 8 Basic Energy are in the official pokemon-card.com database (published September 9, 2026). The AR/SAR/FUR secret-rare block (104–135) is still not in that database, even though all 32 have now been seen; based on official promotional images, SNKRDUNK’s release-day listings and PokeBeach’s compiled list, the blocks stack like this:
| Block | Numbers | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| AR | 104–123 (20 total; all 20 now seen, including 119 Kommo-o and 121 Ditto, which surfaced with release-day listings September 16, 2026) | Art Rares — Lapras, Drifloon, Lycanroc, Hisuian Zorua and others |
| SAR | 124–133 (10 total, the 10 Pokémon ex; all 10 now seen, including 128 Mewtwo ex, 129 Mew ex and 131 Gengar ex, which surfaced with release-day listings September 16, 2026) | Special Art Rares, including the Pikachu ex Day/Night pair (126, 127) |
| FUR | 134, 135 | Mewtwo ex and Mew ex Futuristic Rares (both shown) |
| Classic Collection | 136–165 (29 of 30 in the official database; 152 shares its database entry with 151, Darkrai & Cresselia LEGEND) | Historic cards in special spec; highest number is Magikarp 165/103 |
So FUR sits above the SAR block and directly below the 30-card historic reprint block — structurally, it occupies the position a UR or god-pack tier would hold in a normal set. There is no SR (Super Rare) tier and no MUR in this set. All 32 secret rares (104–135) have now been seen — the last five (119 Kommo-o AR, 121 Ditto AR, 128 Mewtwo ex SAR, 129 Mew ex SAR, 131 Gengar ex SAR) surfaced with release-day listings on SNKRDUNK, September 16, 2026 — but the block is still not in the official card database, and illustrators for the AR and SAR cards remain unpublished (the two FUR cards are by YOSHIROTTEN). Note that the English 30th Celebration set uses a different /128 structure, so the JP numbering here does not carry over.
FUR vs SAR, UR and MUR: How the Tiers Compare
Where does a Futuristic Rare actually land against the chase tiers collectors already know? Now that release-day asks exist, we can line the FUR figures up against graded comparable chase cards from our own inventory — the same Mew, in fact, in two existing rarities.
| Tier | Example card | Status |
|---|---|---|
| FUR | Mew ex 135/103 (M6a, released Sept 16, 2026) | Pre-release forecast ¥150,000+ (~$943), snkrdunk 29 Aug 2026; lowest release-day ask on SNKRDUNK ¥22,222 (Sept 16, 2026) |
| SAR | PSA10 Mew ex SAR 347/190 (Shiny Treasure ex) | Sold out at the time of this update — restock requests go through Quick Order (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) |
| UR | PSA10 Mew ex UR 208/165 | Sold out at the time of this update — restock requests go through Quick Order (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) |
| UR | PSA10 Charizard ex UR 139/108 (Ruler of the Black Flame) | Sold out at the time of this update — restock requests go through Quick Order (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) |
(update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order)The comparison is still instructive even with all three graded comparables sold out at the time of writing. A top-tier SAR Mew in PSA10 grading has historically traded well above the ¥22,222 release-day ask now seen for a raw (ungraded) Mew ex FUR single, while UR printings of the exact same Pokémon — gold-treatment cards that were themselves the set-topping tier of their era — sit in a different band again. Rarity tiers in the Japanese game are not a fixed ladder; each new tier’s long-term level is set by print volume, demand and grading population, not by its label.
(update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order)As for MUR, the gold-etched top tier the MEGA-era sets introduced earlier in 2026: it remains the reigning set-topper of the current standard sets, while FUR is (so far) an anniversary one-off with exactly two booster cards. Whether FUR returns in future sets or stays a 30th-anniversary signature is unknown — nothing official has been said either way. For a full walk-through of every modern Japanese tier and what each one means for graded buyers, see our Japanese Pokémon card rarity guide.
FUR Pull Rates: What Is (and Is Not) Known
Officially: nothing. The product page confirms only three structural facts — each ¥360 pack contains six foil cards, every pack includes one Pikachu card, and every pack includes one YOSHIROTTEN basic energy. A box is 20 packs at ¥7,200 (~$45).
PokeBeach reported, from an official box opening shown before release (September 9, 2026), that one 20-pack box contained: 20 of the Pikachu cards (each unique, no duplicates), 2 Classic Collection cards, 4 Illustration Rares (AR), 1 Special Illustration Rare (SAR), and 1 Futuristic Rare, Mew or Mewtwo ex. That is one reported opening, not a published rate — The Pokémon Company has not confirmed it and has not published pull rates for any of these tiers.
On FUR specifically, snkrdunk states plainly that the FUR inclusion rate is 不明 (unknown), and TCG Screener notes that Pokémon’s official channels have stayed quiet on rates. Any per-box FUR or SAR ratio you see quoted — including the single reported opening above — is not an official guaranteed rate; we will not repeat it as one, and we would treat any listing that claims a fixed FUR count in every box as a red flag. Now that boxes have been opened since the September 16 release, opening counts are circulating in the community, but none of them is a Pokémon Company–published rate; “officially unpublished” remains the only accurate statement.

Sealed alternatives across the Pokémon range are in the Pokémon card collection, and for anything you cannot see listed, the Quick Order page is the fastest route to a quote.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does FUR mean in Pokémon cards?
FUR stands for Futuristic Rare (フューチャリスティックレア), a new rarity introduced in the Japanese 30th CELEBRATION set (M6a), released September 16, 2026. Officially, FUR cards carry vivid, colourful artwork evoking hope toward an unknown future.
How many FUR cards exist?
Two are confirmed in M6a boosters: Mewtwo ex 134/103 and Mew ex 135/103. Two further Pikachu ex promos (131/M-P and 132/M-P) in FUR specification come with the lottery-allocated FUTURISTIC BOX.
Who illustrates the FUR cards?
Graphic artist YOSHIROTTEN, who drew both FUR illustrations specifically for the 30th anniversary. The set’s eight basic energy cards use the same special YOSHIROTTEN design.
What is the pull rate for FUR cards?
Officially unpublished. Japanese aggregator snkrdunk states the FUR inclusion rate is unknown, and no official per-box ratio exists. PokeBeach reported one official box opening (September 9, 2026) that contained 1 Futuristic Rare among 20 packs, but one opening is not a rate, and it is not a guarantee. Release-day opening counts are now circulating in the community, but none of them is an official published rate either.
Is FUR rarer than SAR or UR?
Structurally, FUR sits above the SAR block in the M6a secret numbering (134–135 vs 124–133). Pre-release predictions of ¥150,000+ per FUR (snkrdunk, August 29, 2026) are now well above the ¥22,222 lowest release-day ask for Mew ex FUR (SNKRDUNK, September 16, 2026); a top PSA10 SAR of the same Pokémon has traded well above both figures.
