What Is the Greninja BREAK 157/103 Reprint?

The official card list for 30th CELEBRATION (M6a) was published on 9 September 2026 and covers the main set 001–103, the Classic Collection 136–165, and the eight Basic Energy. Greninja BREAK 157/103 sits inside that officially listed Classic Collection block — a run of 30 reprints, numbered 136 through 165, that carry no regulation mark. Per the official caveat that applies to the whole block, Classic Collection cards are not usable under the current Standard regulation; they remain legal only in whatever format the original printing is legal in.

The reprint’s credited illustrator, per the official database, is 5ban Graphics — the same illustrator credited on the original print.

The Original Greninja BREAK: Print History and Card Text

The card 157/103 reprints is Greninja BREAK from BREAKpoint, card 41 of 122, released in English on 3 February 2016. On the Japanese side, Bulbapedia traces the card to the “Rage of the Broken Heavens” expansion, card 030/080; it was also reprinted in the Japanese “The Best of XY” compilation as 028/171.

Attribute Detail
Original print BREAKpoint 41/122, Rare BREAK (holographic) — released 3 Feb 2016
Japanese origin “Rage of the Broken Heavens” 030/080; reprinted in “The Best of XY” as 028/171
Illustrator 5ban Graphics — matches the 30th reprint’s credit
Type / HP Water / 170 — BREAK Evolution (evolves from Greninja)
Ability Giant Water Shuriken — once during your turn, before attacking, while this Pokémon is your Active Pokémon, you may discard a Water Energy card from your hand; if you do, put 6 damage counters on 1 of your opponent’s Pokémon
Attacks None listed
Weakness / Resistance / Retreat None on any of the three

This is one of the more unusual cards of its era mechanically: a BREAK Evolution card with no attacks at all, entirely dependent on its single Ability. Per Bulbapedia, Giant Water Shuriken “references the move Water Shuriken from the Pokémon games, representing ‘a larger version’ of that attack,” and the card was “designed without any weaknesses, resistances, or retreat costs to pay”.

Why Greninja BREAK Is in the Classic Collection

Pokémon’s official communication around the Classic Collection describes the block as 特別仕様 (“special specification”) treatment. The Greninja BREAK archetype built around this card took second place at the Pokémon TCG World Championships — a competitive result, not a claim about the card’s collecting value.

157/103 puts a mechanically unique, competitively notable BREAK Evolution card from the XY block back into M6a packs, in the same special finish as the other 29 Classic Collection cards.

Graded Greninja Prints From Other Eras

Two graded Greninja prints from other eras give context for the wider graded Greninja market; neither is the original print that 157/103 revives.

PSA10 MEGA Greninja ex MUR (M4 120/083) and PSA10 Greninja ex SAR (SV5a 090/066) are offered as PSA 10 back orders at ¥110,857 (~$720) and ¥63,665 (~$413) — sourced to order; the product page shows the current terms.

SNKRDUNK Asking Prices for Greninja Prints

On 11 September 2026, SNKRDUNK — a Japanese resale marketplace — showed these lowest asking prices for Greninja BREAK/Greninja cards (any condition; asks are seller listings, not sales). A 1st Edition Greninja RR from the “Anger of Heaven” expansion (XY9 030/080) asked ¥6,980 (14 listings); the Japanese “Best of XY” compilation print (XY 028/171) — the same reprint referenced in this card’s own print history — asked ¥6,500 (14 listings); and a non-1st-edition Greninja RR from Anger of Heaven asked ¥250,000, but from just 2 listings, a thin price.

None of these figures describes 157/103 itself.
