Entei Pokemon Cards Checklist: Every Print in the Official Japanese Database (2007–2026)

Entei Pokemon Cards Checklist: Every Print in the Official Japanese Database (2007–2026)

All Entei Pokemon cards that the official Japanese card database lists (エンテイ, from the Diamond & Pearl era onward) come to 31 entries. This checklist puts every one of them in a single table with set code, card number, illustrator and HP, then walks through what the entries have in common.

Every count in this guide is scoped to those 31 entries. Older cards that the database does not hold, such as the Old Back, e-series and 2003–2005 PCG-era prints, are covered in a separate section and are not part of any count. USD figures for our listings convert at ¥154/USD, approximate.

Key Takeaways
  • The official database lists 31 Entei entries: 22 plain Entei prints (including one named Entei of the Crystal Tower), four Entei V, two Entei GX, one Entei EX and two LEGEND cards.
  • The 31 entries carry 18 different illustrator credits. toriyufu, kodama, Mitsuhiro Arita and PLANETA Mochizuki appear three times each.
  • The newest entry is the Mega Dream ex Entei M2a 020/193 (Kazumasa Yasukuni, 140 HP); its set is available as a sealed box at Sealed ¥12,368 (~$80) / No Shrink ¥11,565 (~$75).

What This Checklist Covers

The official Pokemon Card Game database on pokemon-card.com is the only source for the table below. It holds cards from the Diamond & Pearl era onward, and it lists 31 entries under the Entei name, including the two LEGEND cards that pair Entei with another beast. It does not print rarity letters, so none appear in this guide unless one of our own listing names carries them.

Three points keep the counts honest. First, an entry is a database record, not a unique card design: the database holds two separate entries printed XY 011/171 and two printed SI 056/414, each with its own id. Second, a number above the set’s printed count (213/190, 213/172, 073/072) marks a secret-numbered print, but the database does not say which rarity it is. Third, the database records a Pokedex line and category (No.244, かざんポケモン, “Volcano Pokemon” in rendering) on most plain Entei entries and omits it on V, GX, EX and LEGEND entries; this guide does not use it to sort anything.

For our own wider reading of the Japanese prints see the Entei Pokemon Card Guide: 8 Key Japanese Prints Verified and the Entei, Raikou & Suicune: Card Value Guide; this page is the exhaustive list the two guides lean on.

Row 4 (SV4a 213/190), row 7 (S12a 213/172) and row 19 (SM3p 073/072) are the three entries numbered above their set’s printed count in the V, GX and plain categories. The two LEGEND rows are single cards in two halves: the database lists the upper and lower numbers together because the cards are played as a pair. Our LEGEND cards guide explains that format.

The 31 Entries by Card Type, HP and Illustrator

Sorting the checklist three ways gives a quick picture of what the database holds. All counts refer to the 31 entries above.

The illustrator spread is wide for a single Pokemon: 18 different credits across 31 entries. toriyufu is credited on SV3, SV4a 028 and SVJL; kodama on S5I, SI 055 and SO; Mitsuhiro Arita on XY ×2 and XY7-B 015; PLANETA Mochizuki on S12a 019 and both SI 056 entries. Shin Nagasawa, Naoki Saito, 5ban Graphics, Yuri Umemura and Shinji Higuchi appear twice each, and nine illustrators appear once.

The Oldest Entries: DP3, LP, MPS and the L2-B LEGENDs

Four groups of entries come from the database’s earliest records.

Entei LV.43 DP3 DPBP#294, illustrator Ryo Ueda
Entei — DP3 DPBP#294 — LV.43 (illustrator Ryo Ueda)

The DP3 DPBP#294 entry (row 31) is a LV.43, 80 HP Entei credited to Ryo Ueda. It carries a Poke-Body (rendered “Burning Fur”) that trashes the top 3 cards of the opponent’s deck each time damage from this Pokemon’s attack Knocks Out one of the opponent’s Pokemon, and an attack whose rendering reads “Flame Roar”: 60 damage, 20 damage to one Benched Pokemon, and on tails you trash 2 of your Energy (rendering).

The two LP entries (rows 25 and 26) are 80 HP and 90 HP cards by Yuri Umemura. The 80 HP card has a single attack, “Flare Drive” (rendering), that deals 80 and trashes all Energy attached. The 90 HP card has a Poke-Body that lowers its retreat cost by its attached Energy and a 70-damage attack that trashes the top 3 cards of your own deck (rendering).

The MPS entry (row 27) is the only one named 結晶塔のエンテイ (“Entei of the Crystal Tower”, rendering); the database credits it to Kagemaru Himeno at 80 HP and shows no card number. The L2-B entries (rows 29 and 30) are the two LEGEND pairs, credited to Shinji Higuchi. Our legendary-beasts guide places the L2 set, Reviving Legends, in 2010.

BW4 to SM: EX, XY and GX

The BW4-B entry (row 28) is the only upper-case EX: Entei EX, 180 HP, credited to shizurow. Our Entei guide places its set, Dark Rush, in December 2011. Its card text is rendered as “Flame Fang” 30, which burns the Defending Pokemon, and “Ground Flame” 90, which moves one Energy from your trash to a Benched Pokemon (rendering); a knocked-out EX gives up two Prize cards.

Entei EX 009/069 BW4-B, illustrator shizurow
Entei EX — 009/069 — BW4-B (illustrator shizurow)

The XY-code entries (rows 20 to 24) split into two card texts, one by Naoki Saito (120 HP) and one by Mitsuhiro Arita (130 HP). The two Bandit Ring cards, 014/081 and 015/081, and the CP4 016/131 are the subject of our XY-era Entei guide.

Entei 011/171 XY, illustrator Mitsuhiro Arita
Entei — 011/171 — XY (illustrator Mitsuhiro Arita, database id 33563)

The SM-code entries (rows 16 to 19) include the two 180 HP Entei GX cards, SM3p 011/072 and 073/072, both credited to 5ban Graphics. The GX attack is rendered “Brave Burn GX”: 150 damage to one of the opponent’s Benched Pokemon, ignoring Weakness and Resistance, usable once per game (rendering). A knocked-out GX gives up two Prize cards.

Entei GX 011/072 SM3p, illustrator 5ban Graphics
Entei GX — 011/072 — SM3p (illustrator 5ban Graphics)

S and SV Codes: V, Start Deck and Regular Prints

The S-code and SV-code entries are the largest block: rows 2 to 15 of the checklist. They include the four Entei V, the Start Deck 100 prints, a Special Deck Set print and the regular Entei prints that followed.

Entei V 213/172 S12a, illustrator Shigenori Negishi
Entei V — 213/172 — S12a (illustrator Shigenori Negishi)

All four Entei V entries (S12a 019/172, S12a 213/172, SI 056/414 ×2) are 230 HP with the same text: an ability rendered “Quick Dash” that draws a card once per turn while the Pokemon is in the Active Spot, and an attack rendered “Burning Rondo” for 20 plus 20 for each Benched Pokemon on both sides (rendering). S12a 213/172 is the Shigenori Negishi print; the other three credit PLANETA Mochizuki. The set is S12a, VSTAR Universe, and our legendary-beasts guide dates it to Friday, December 2, 2022. Our Entei V PSA 10 guide covers the four rows in depth.

SI 055/414 and SI 056/414 are the Entei entries in the SI set, Start Deck 100; our Start Deck 100 guide covers the product. SO 008/030 is the Entei in the SO set, a Special Deck Set. Both the SI 055 and SO 008 entries are credited to kodama, as is S5I 009/070.

Entei 213/190 SV4a, illustrator Ryuta Fuse
Entei — 213/190 — SV4a (illustrator Ryuta Fuse)

The SV-code entries (SV3 016/108, SV4a 028/190, SV4a 213/190, SVJL 005/021) share one text: 130 HP, an ability rendered “Pressure” that lowers the damage of the opponent’s Active Pokemon’s attacks by 20 while this Pokemon is Active, and an attack rendered “Blaze Ball” for 60 plus 20 for each Energy attached to it (rendering). The SV4a 213/190 is numbered above the set’s printed 190; Ryuta Fuse is its credited illustrator, while the other three credit toriyufu. Our sibling guide to the 2023–2026 regular prints, Every Regular Entei Print 2023–2026, goes through them one by one.

Entei 020/193 M2a, illustrator Kazumasa Yasukuni
Entei — 020/193 — M2a (illustrator Kazumasa Yasukuni)

The M2a 020/193 closes the checklist at the newest end. It is 140 HP, credited to Kazumasa Yasukuni, with a single attack rendered “Flare Fall” for 30 plus 90 more if you have 4 or more Energy in play (rendering). Its set is the Mega Dream ex high class pack.

Which Entries Share Card Text

Many entries are reprints of one game card in a new set. Grouping by printed text shows how few distinct designs the 31 entries contain. Effects are renderings of the Japanese text.

Shared text (HP) Rows Effect, rendered
Pressure / Blaze Ball (130) 2, 3, 4, 5 Opponent’s Active Pokemon attack damage -20 while Active; 60+ attack scaling with Energy
Heat Dash / Flame Fang (130) 8, 10, 14 30: may attach an Energy from hand; 90: burns the Defending Pokemon
Rebound / Flame Mane (130) 15, 16 30+ (90 more if your Pokemon was knocked out last turn by attack damage); 100
Saito text (120) 22, 23 Top-4 trash with Energy attach; 20+ per opposing Benched Pokemon
Arita text (130) 20, 21, 24 Ancient ability (two Tools); 30 with damage reduction; 130 with recoil on tails
Entei V text (230) 6, 7, 11, 12 Draw 1 once per turn while Active; 20+ per Benched Pokemon on both sides
Entei GX text (180) 18, 19 50; 100 with burn; 150 to one Benched Pokemon (GX attack)

The remaining 11 entries carry text found on one entry only: rows 1, 9, 13, 17, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31. Rows 9 and 13 are 120 HP cards (S11a 014/068 with an ability that removes the retreat cost while Energy is attached, S6a 014/069 with an attack that counts damage counters on Benched Single Strike Pokemon), and row 17 is the SM8 022/095 with a burn attack and an attack that trashes the top card of both decks (rendering).

Entei Cards That Are Not in the Database

The database starts at the Diamond & Pearl era, so the older Entei prints our guides cover are not among the 31 entries. This section names them only as far as our own published guides record them; none of their numbers, HP values or illustrators is added to a count above.

Older Entei card What our guides record
Neo Revelation (Japanese: Awakening Legends) Entei Holo #6/64 and Rare #17/64 in English numbering, 80 HP, illustrated by Ken Sugimori; Japanese numbers are not stated in our sources
Premium File 3 (neo) Entei LV.24, PRMF-3 No.244 on our PSA 10 listing; Old Back cards carry no 1ED stamp
PCG4 “Golden Sky, Silvery Ocean” (2005) Entei★ in the Gold Star trio, English 113/115 and Japanese 019/106, 80 HP, illustrator Masakazu Fukuda
PokePark Premium File “Blue Sheet” PCG 001/009 on our listing; year, rarity and illustrator are not stated in our sources
EX-era lower-case ex cards (2003–2005) Rocket’s Entei ex and Entei ex, recorded in English numbering with Japanese counterparts (Rocket Gang Strikes Back, Magma Deck Kit)

The last row matters for a common question. Among the 31 database entries there is exactly one upper-case Entei EX (BW4-B 009/069, row 28) and no lower-case Entei ex; the lower-case cards in the table belong to the 2003–2005 era and sit outside the database. For the Old Back format see our Old Back cards guide.

Where This Fits With the October 2026 Trademark Reports

On October 29, 2026 fan sites reported a Japanese trademark filing for 「マグマの鼓動」, which collectors read as a possible Entei set; nothing is announced. Our Magma Heartbeat trademark guide (working English translation of マグマの鼓動; no official English name exists) explains what is confirmed and what is not, and the ex★ 2027 trademark round-up compares the four reported names.
