Who Is kirisAki?
kirisAki is a Japanese illustrator born February 5, who entered the Pokemon TCG during the Legendary Treasures era with a print of Tangela. Since that debut, the artist’s catalog has grown to 159 unique cards for the Japanese TCG, plus 27 additional illustrations for Pokemon Pocket.
kirisAki’s work extends well beyond the trading card itself. The artist has served as a key artist for Pokemon Masters EX and designed Holowear — the cosmetic outfit system — for four Pokemon in Pokemon UNITE: Charizard, Greninja, Gardevoir, and Gengar. In the TCG, kirisAki illustrates both Pokemon and Trainer cards, including the current-era regular Professor’s Research Supporter used throughout the Scarlet & Violet block.
But if there’s one subject that defines kirisAki’s TCG output, it’s Marnie. The Team Yell leader has been illustrated by kirisAki across five separate Japanese sets — S1H, SD, S3a, S4a, and S8b — making kirisAki a recurring artist for Marnie across five sets. The Marnie SR (S1H 068/060) is the more familiar of the two Marnie prints in this guide, and our PSA10 copy is currently listed at ¥101,723. It’s the version most collectors picture when they think of kirisAki’s Marnie — the character posed against a full-bleed illustrated background in the set’s standard Super Rare treatment.

The Marnie HR (S1H 072/060) takes the same artwork and reprints it in the set’s Hyper Rare slot — the foil treatment collectors often shorthand as “rainbow rare.” Our PSA10 copy is currently listed at ¥26,100, priced below the SR despite the flashier foil. That gap is a familiar pattern in Japanese TCG collecting: rarity slot alone doesn’t set the price, and established demand for a well-known artwork in its more common Super Rare form can outweigh a fancier foil on the exact same illustration.
The Trophy Tier: Acerola’s Extra Battle Day Promo
kirisAki’s trophy-tier piece of work is not currently listed for sale. The Acerola 395/SM-P (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) Extra Battle Day promo carries brand-new kirisAki artwork — not a reprint of any earlier Acerola illustration — and it was never sold as a standalone product. It was awarded to winners at in-store Extra Battle Day tournament events held across October and November 2019, one of three randomized promo packs (395–397/SM-P) given out to that season’s event winners.
Our own copy is archived and out of stock, last listed at ¥3,965,500. It’s not currently listed for sale — we’re including it because it’s the clearest illustration of how far kirisAki’s range extends, from a mainstream S1H Supporter to a tournament-only promo that sits among the rarer Trainer-card prizes in the hobby.
