Morpeko is a Darkness-type Basic Pokemon from the Galar region, and Japanese sets have printed it just four times since it debuted alongside Sword & Shield in November 2019. Of those, the Morpeko full art cards come down to a single Art Rare: Marnie’s Morpeko. No V, no VMAX, no GX. Just four cards, one of which is an Art Rare bundled into a two-Pokemon starter box.
That short list makes Morpeko an easy species to collect completely, but the four printings span three different eras and three different rarity tiers, so identifying which one you’re holding still takes a second look.
Four verified Japanese Morpeko printings exist: a 2022 Common (Paradigm Trigger), a 2023 Rare (Ancient Roar), a 2025 Art Rare (Marnie’s Morpeko, bundled with a Grimmsnarl ex starter box), and a 2026 Double Rare ex (Abyss Eye).
- Marnie’s Morpeko (SVOM 020/019) is an Art Rare print.
- Current box prices: Abyss Eye, Ancient Roar and Paradigm Trigger.
- More Japanese singles are on the card list page.

Morpeko Full Art Cards: Every Japanese AR Print
Collectors use “full art” for prints whose artwork fills the whole card face. Japanese sets do not print those words: the official card database prints only a rarity code, and the full-art treatments are the SR (full-art ex and Supporter cards), SAR (Special Art Rare), AR (Art Rare), CHR / CSR (Character Rare) and the gold UR and rainbow HR printings. This page lists every Morpeko print of those rarities that our Japanese database checks cover.
That is one print: Marnie’s Morpeko, SVOM 020/019, Art Rare (AR), illustrated by Susumu Maeya. The Common, Rare and Double Rare Morpeko prints carry no art rarity. For how these treatments compare across other Pokemon, see our full art Pokemon cards guide.
Every Morpeko Printing at a Glance
In release order, oldest to newest:
| # | Card | Rarity | Set | Released |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Morpeko 062/098 | Common | Paradigm Trigger (S12) | 21 Oct 2022 |
| 2 | Morpeko 051/066 | Rare | Ancient Roar (SV4K) | 27 Oct 2023 |
| 3 | Marnie’s Morpeko 020/019 | Art Rare | ex Starter Set (SVOM) | 21 Feb 2025 |
| 4 | Morpeko ex 053/081 | Double Rare | Abyss Eye (M5) | 22 May 2026 |
Two things stand out immediately. First, there is no V, VMAX, or GX version of Morpeko in our research — every printing sits at Common, Rare, Art Rare, or the newer Double Rare ex tier, so this is a species you can chase without hunting a five-figure secret rare. Second, the rarity ladder climbs steadily with each release: a plain Common in 2022, a Rare with a passive ability in 2023, a starter-box Art Rare in 2025, and finally a full ex attacker in 2026.
The Chase Card: Marnie’s Morpeko Art Rare (SVOM 020/019)

The card most people are looking for when they search Morpeko is this one: Marnie’s Morpeko, card number 020/019. That number is worth pausing on — the set only lists 19 cards, so 020/019 marks this as a secret/bonus print sitting just above the base count, printed at Art Rare.
It was illustrated by Susumu Maeya and released 21 February 2025 as part of the ex Starter Set called “Marnie’s Morpeko & Grimmsnarl ex” — a two-Pokemon starter product that pairs this card with a Grimmsnarl ex chase card from the same box. That Grimmsnarl print carries its own set and card number, which we cover in the companion Grimmsnarl guide rather than here.
This card belongs to the wider catalogue of Marnie-branded cards released across several Japanese sets. For that fuller list, see our Marnie Japanese cards guide.
Confirm the card number reads 020/019, not 020/098 or similar — the “over the set total” number is what marks this as the Art Rare secret print rather than a base card from an unrelated set.
Marnie’s Morpeko in PSA 10
The PSA 10 [SVOM 020/019] Marnie’s Morpeko is sold out at the time of this update. PSA 10 designates Gem Mint condition per PSA’s published grading standards.
For background on what Art Rare and Double Rare designations mean relative to other Japanese rarity tiers, see our Japanese rarity guide for graded buyers.
Morpeko ex, Abyss Eye (M5 053/081)

The newest and mechanically strongest Morpeko print is Morpeko ex, card number 053/081, a Double Rare from the Abyss Eye set (M5), released 22 May 2026 and illustrated by aky CG Works. At 180 HP, it’s well above the two earlier standard-rarity prints, which run 60–70 HP.
Two attacks define the card: Wheel Draw, which shuffles its hand into the deck and draws six fresh cards, and Hangry Bomber, which deals 40 damage plus more for each damage counter already sitting on this Morpeko ex. In practice that means the card gets stronger the more it’s been hit.
Abyss Eye sits inside the broader 2026 Japanese Mega-era release calendar; if you’re tracking that timeline more broadly, our Mega Dream ex (M2a) card list covers an adjacent set from the same stretch of releases.
The Early Prints: Ancient Roar and Paradigm Trigger
Before the starter-box Art Rare or the 2026 ex, Morpeko had two straightforward standard-rarity prints. Morpeko 051/066, a Rare from Ancient Roar (SV4K, the Japanese split of Paradox Rift), released 27 October 2023 and illustrated by Cona Nitanda. Its notable feature is an ability — Hungry Dash — that drops its retreat cost to zero whenever it has no Energy attached, letting it swap in and out of the active spot for free early in a game.
The older of the two is Morpeko 062/098, a plain Common from Paradigm Trigger (S12, the Japanese split of Silver Tempest), released 21 October 2022 and illustrated by nagimiso. It has 60 HP and no special ability — a baseline print with no gimmick beyond the artwork.
These two are the printings most likely to turn up cheaply in bulk lots or binder pages from Sword & Shield-era boxes, and they’re the easiest entry point if you just want a Japanese Morpeko in hand without chasing the starter-box or 2026 versions. For more on the wider Sword & Shield print landscape, see our Sword & Shield era Japanese Pokemon guide. The sealed Ancient Roar booster box, Sealed option, is currently listed at ¥12,668 (~$82), and the Paradigm Trigger booster box, Sealed option, at ¥21,742 (~$141).
About the Marnie’s Morpeko & Grimmsnarl ex Starter Box
Marnie’s Morpeko comes packaged inside a dedicated two-Pokemon ex Starter Set called “Marnie’s Morpeko & Grimmsnarl ex,” which bundles this Art Rare alongside a separate Grimmsnarl ex chase card from a different set and card number. The starter box is sold out at the time of this update.
Morpeko itself is a Galar-region Basic Pokemon that debuted alongside the Sword & Shield generation in November 2019, but it isn’t one of the three Galar starter Pokemon (Grookey, Scorbunny, Sobble) — if you’re after that trio specifically, our Galar starters cards guide covers those separately.
If you already have Marnie’s Morpeko and want the matching Grimmsnarl, our Grimmsnarl Japanese cards guide is the sibling article — the two are designed to be collected as a pair from the same starter box.
