Going in, most of the chase conversation was built around Loki OP17-119 — the first Secret Rare Bandai confirmed for the set. It made sense at the time: SEC slots have anchored the chase hierarchy in recent Japanese OP boosters. What actually happened once boxes opened is close to the opposite. Loki and its SEC partner Rocks D. Xebec OP17-118 are asking bulk-adjacent prices, while a brand-new rarity almost nobody could price before release — the “Pirate Crew Super Parallel” — is the card the whole set is now built around.

Launch-weekend asking prices flip the pre-release script: Loki OP17-119 was the face of the hype, but it is asking a bulk-adjacent ¥1,399 today. The money went to two cards almost nobody could price before release — the Pirate Crew Super Parallel pair, led by Luffy EB04-061 at a seven-figure ask (¥1,300,000) and Rocks D. Xebec OP17-118 SEC-SP at ¥540,000. The English version follows fast: it pre-released August 21 and fully releases August 28, at USD 4.99 MSRP per pack. Tier 1: The Pirate Crew Super Parallels — Not the SEC Everyone Watched
Heading into release, Loki OP17-119 was treated as the card to watch: the first Secret Rare Bandai confirmed, and a first-appearance character riding the manga’s current saga. In every recent Japanese OP booster, the SEC slot has anchored the top of the chase conversation. That pattern held for attention, not for price.
What actually topped the set is a rarity most pre-release coverage could only half-confirm: the Pirate Crew Super Parallel (海賊団スーパーパラレル), a new 4th-anniversary treatment spread across two cards — Luffy EB04-061 and Rocks D. Xebec OP17-118 in its SEC-SP form. Neither had a public price before August 22. As of August 24, snkrdunk floor asks put Luffy EB04-061 at ¥1,300,000 — a seven-figure ask — with shop sale listings (yuyu-tei, torecamap) running roughly ¥1.48–2.2 million. Rocks D. Xebec OP17-118 SEC-SP is asking ¥540,000, with shop listings around ¥798–889k. Those are the two most expensive cards in OP-17, and pre-release coverage — this article included — had no way to price either of them.
Meanwhile, the cards that carried the hype are asking close to bulk. Loki OP17-119 is listed at ¥1,399 for the base SEC and ¥3,600 for its SEC-P parallel. Rocks D. Xebec OP17-118‘s own base SEC sits at ¥2,750, with the SEC-P at ¥7,400. That is roughly a 200× gap between the base SEC printing and the same character’s Pirate Crew Super Parallel — the clearest evidence that OP-17’s real chase hierarchy has almost nothing to do with which rarity name sounds rarest on paper.
The set officially carries three Secret Rare slots. Two — Loki OP17-119 and Rocks D. Xebec OP17-118 — are conventional SECs, and both are now asking near-bulk prices. The set’s third secret-rarity slot (official wording unconfirmed) is delivered through the Pirate Crew Super Parallel treatment instead, which is why the money skipped straight past the cards labeled “Secret Rare” and landed on a treatment name most buyers hadn’t heard of two weeks ago.
Tier 2: The Four Manga Treatments, Ranked
If the Pirate Crew Super Parallels are the outright top of the set, the Manga treatments are the tier everyone correctly called as the second-most-wanted group — they’re just now priced. Manga-style treatments — cards rendered in black-and-white manga panel art — confirmed all four of the pre-release picks, and launch weekend sorted them into a clear order:

Shanks landing on top matches the read we had going in: he’s perennially one of the most liquid characters in the game, and that liquidity showed up as the highest ask in the tier. Whitebeard’s Manga card carries real weight too — enough that a used copy is asking more than a fresh one, which is unusual and probably a market still finding its footing three days in rather than a durable pattern. Kaido and Linlin, both paired with a Leader in this same set, settled into the bottom half of the tier without falling out of six-figure territory.

Tier 3: Luffy Leader Parallel OP17-079 — ¥115,000
The Luffy OP17-079 Super Leader Parallel confirmed exactly where we expected it to land: below the Manga tier, but still comfortably a six-figure card, asking ¥115,000 as of August 24. Super-parallel Leader slots pull two buyer groups at once — collectors chasing the rarest version of the franchise’s face, and competitive players who want to pilot the actual Leader in its flashiest form.
That dual demand is why Leader super-parallels hold value even after a set’s art tiers get all the preview attention. A Manga rare lives in a binder; a Super Leader Parallel gets sleeved and played in front of opponents every week. And this one is Luffy, the protagonist, in a set now defined by two cards most people never saw coming — which leaves ¥115,000 looking like a level the dual-demand tier could plausibly hold once the set settles.
Tier 4: The Luffy ST31-004 Insert — ¥75,000
The New Emperor SP treatment group covers four characters — Luffy, Teach (Blackbeard), Shanks, and Buggy — and all four card numbers are confirmed: Luffy ST31-004, Shanks OP13-028, Buggy P-084, and Teach ST27-005. Of the four, only Luffy’s has a verified launch-weekend ask so far: the Luffy SR-SPC ST31-004 “新四皇” (New Emperor) Special Card insert is asking ¥75,000. Teach, Shanks OP13-028, and Buggy P-084 have not shown reliable secondary listings yet, so we’re not putting numbers on them here.
¥75,000 for an SP-tier insert is a meaningful result — it lands the New Emperor cycle solidly above the Haki-style SP pairs (Tier 5, below) and confirms that within this four-card themed group, the market is playing favorites the way themed SP cycles usually do. Whether Shanks, Teach, or Buggy challenges Luffy’s number will depend on listings that haven’t stabilized yet; we’ll update this tier once they do.
Tier 5: The Haki-Style SP Pairs
The second SP cycle is a set of Haki-style treatments revealed in pairs: Garp/Roger, Yamato/Rayleigh, and Zoro/Oden. Six cards, three pairings, each linking characters bound by legacy. All six card numbers are confirmed — Zoro EB04-007, Oden ST32-002, Garp OP12-056, Roger P-107, Yamato OP16-098, Rayleigh OP14-108 — which, with the New Emperor group, completes the full SP roster at the official count of 10.
Three days into launch weekend, none of the six Haki-style cards have produced a verified asking price we’re comfortable printing here — listings for this cycle are thinner and less consistent than for the tiers above. That in itself is informative: with the Pirate Crew Super Parallels, the Manga tier, the Leader Parallel, and the New Emperor insert all absorbing the bulk of launch-weekend attention and money, the Haki-style pairs have settled into a supporting-cast role for now. Character-for-character the cycle still has quiet strength — Roger, Rayleigh, Yamato, and Zoro all carry deep collector followings — so this is a tier to revisit as more sales surface, not one to write off.
Tier 6: Leaders, Super Rares & the Treasure Rare
Below the premium treatments sits the confirmed backbone of the set: six Leaders, ten Super Rares, and the set’s single Treasure Rare.
The six confirmed Leaders
The full Leader lineup is Newgate OP17-001 (red), Shanks OP17-020 (green), Rocks D. Xebec OP17-039 (blue), Kaido OP17-058 (purple), Luffy OP17-079 (black), and Charlotte Linlin OP17-099 (yellow) — all six Emperor-class characters, reinforcing the set’s theme. Several overlap with the premium tiers above: Shanks has a Manga treatment and a New Emperor SP, Kaido and Linlin each have Manga treatments, and Luffy’s Leader slot is also the Super Leader Parallel in Tier 3. Where a character holds a Leader and a top-tier alt-art in the same set, demand for the two printings tends to feed each other.
The base SEC slot lives in this backbone tier too, now that its price is known: Loki OP17-119 asks ¥1,399 (¥3,600 for the SEC-P parallel) and Rocks D. Xebec OP17-118 asks ¥2,750 (¥7,400 for the SEC-P parallel) — both closer to volume-tier pricing than to chase-card pricing, for the reasons covered in Tier 1. The set’s single Treasure Rare, Lucky Roux OP17-033, is confirmed as part of that same base tier alongside the SECs; we don’t have a verified asking price for it yet.
The confirmed Super Rares
The ten confirmed SRs are Newgate OP17-005, Shanks OP17-022, Yasopp OP17-031, Gloriosa OP17-046, Shiki OP17-048, Kaido OP17-062 and OP17-063, Usopp OP17-080, Luffy OP17-093, and Linlin OP17-112 — with the four Manga treatments applied to the classic-Emperor SR slots (005, 022, 062, 112). Their SR-P parallels are now priced too: Kaido’s OP17-063 pair asks ¥13,999, Luffy’s OP17-093 asks ¥4,000, Shanks OP17-022 asks ¥2,550, and Newgate OP17-005 and Linlin OP17-112 both ask ¥1,800. A themed Gold Don!! parallel for Luffy and Loki is asking ¥2,500. Standard SRs remain the volume tier — multiple copies per box — so none of these were ever going to be scarce; their role is to keep boxes moving after the chase-tier week ends.
What’s Confirmed Now That the Set Has Released
Pre-release, this section was a warning list. Post-release, it’s a status report on what’s actually settled as of August 24, 2026:
- The hit lineup is final. Two base Secret Rares (Loki OP17-119, Rocks D. Xebec OP17-118), a third secret-rarity slot delivered through the Pirate Crew Super Parallel treatment (Luffy EB04-061 paired with Rocks OP17-118’s SEC-SP), four Manga finals, a Super Leader Parallel, a Treasure Rare, and a confirmed SP roster of 10 — secondary trackers (yuyu-tei, akihabara-cardshop, tcg-portal) are consistent with each other on all of it. Bandai’s own official wording for how the third SEC-rarity slot is counted hasn’t been independently verified, so we describe it as “the set’s third secret-rarity slot” rather than claim an official label.
- Pricing exists for nearly every top slot now — but it’s asking-price data, not sales. Every yen figure in this article comes from live listings on snkrdunk, yuyu-tei, or torecamap as of August 24, 2026. Treat each one as what a seller wants, not as a confirmed transaction.
- Pull rates are still not official. Bandai has never published odds for Japanese OP boosters. Community estimates circulating since release conflict with each other: the Pirate Crew Super Parallel is estimated around 1 in 338 boxes (single-source), the Manga tier is estimated at roughly 1 in 65 to 1 in 100 boxes depending on the tracker, and the Leader Parallel is estimated around 1 in 6 boxes (single-source). None of these are official, and they should be read as unverified community estimates only.
- No official reprint has been announced as of August 24, 2026. Retailer restock lotteries are running — JUMP SHOP from August 24–27 and GEO from August 31–September 3 — which is worth watching, since new allocation could move the pricing above.

Early listings on cards this new tend to be noisy — note the used Newgate Manga copy in Tier 2 asking more than a fresh one — and the tiers above will keep moving as more real sales accumulate and as retailer restocks land. What Chase Depth Did to the Sealed Box Price
Why did we spend two thousand words ranking cards before anyone could price them? Because chase depth — how many genuinely wanted cards a set contains — is the variable that has historically decided how Japanese One Piece sealed product ages, and OP-17’s launch weekend is already proving the point on the box itself.
Against a ¥5,760 MSRP, sealed OP-17 boxes are asking ¥15,699–¥16,000 on snkrdunk (12 recent asks, floor ¥15,999) as of August 24, 2026 — roughly 2.7–2.8× MSRP, or about $99–$101 at ¥159/USD. The pattern that made OP-01, OP-05, and OP-11 into six-to-eleven-times-MSRP sets was chase depth that stayed in demand. OP-17’s own box is already asking roughly 2.7–2.8× MSRP within three days of release — consistent with a set whose real chase hierarchy (Pirate Crew Super Parallels, a four-card Manga tier, a six-figure Leader Parallel and insert) turned out deeper than the pre-release reveal cycle suggested. Whether that multiple holds or grows depends on things still in motion — the restock lotteries noted above, and how the Haki-style SP tier ultimately prices — but the early signal is a strong one. One more structural note: the six-day JP/EN gap means Japanese OP-17 will not enjoy the months-long exclusivity window older Japanese sets had. First access still favors the Japanese print, and Japanese production quality keeps its own following — but if you are buying sealed partly for the early-mover angle, know that the JP-to-EN window is unusually short this time, and the box is already pricing that scarcity in.
