Sword & Shield—Astral Radiance never existed as a single Japanese set. English ASR is a merger of three separate Japanese releases, and every chase card in the English set traces back to one of them.
Astral Radiance (ASR) launched in English on May 27, 2022 with 246 cards — 189 in the base run, 27 secret rares, and a 30-card Trainer Gallery subset. In Japan, that same artwork rolled out earlier and in pieces: S9a Battle Region (25 Feb 2022, 93 cards), S10D Time Gazer (8 Apr 2022, 88 cards) and S10P Space Juggler (8 Apr 2022, 88 cards). We’ve already mapped the full set-to-set relationship in our Astral Radiance Japanese card list; this article ranks the twelve chase cards worth knowing by name and shows exactly which Japanese card, number and rarity each one corresponds to.
Every one of the twelve English ASR chase cards below has a confirmed same-artist Japanese counterpart across S9a, S10D or S10P — there is no guesswork on the artwork match. Our highest-priced PSA 10 from these sets is Starmie V CSR at ¥49,720 (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order), and sealed S9a Battle Region boxes are currently listed at ¥12,390.

How We Ranked These
We ranked this list two ways, in order. First, any card we currently list as a graded PSA 10, ordered from our highest listed price down. Six of the twelve chase cards below fall into that group. Second, the remaining cards are ordered by Japanese printed rarity tier — Character Super Rare (CSR), Ultra Rare (UR) gold, Holo Rare/Rainbow (HR), then Secret Rare (SR), including the alternate-art SR prints collectors often shorthand as “SA.”
We did not use TCGplayer, eBay, or PriceCharting data anywhere in this ranking. Every price you see below is a link to our own product listing, not a third-party market estimate.

What Japanese sets is Astral Radiance based on?
Three: S9a Battle Region (25 Feb 2022, 93 cards), S10D Time Gazer (8 Apr 2022, 88 cards) and S10P Space Juggler (8 Apr 2022, 88 cards). English Astral Radiance combines all three plus an English-only Trainer Gallery subset and released May 27, 2022.

Why do the Japanese and English card numbers not match?
Each Japanese set numbers independently against its own 067 base card count, while English ASR renumbers everything into one continuous 246-card run that also folds in the Trainer Gallery subset. A card like “ASR 177” and its Japanese source “S10D 075” simply use different numbering systems for the same artwork.
What does “SA” mean on an alternate-art Japanese card?
“SA” is community shorthand, not a printed rarity. Cards like the Dialga V and Machamp V alternate arts print SR on the card itself — we refer to them as alternate-art SR (often written “SA”) throughout this guide.
Is there a Japanese card in this set with no English counterpart?
Yes — S10P prints two SR versions of Palkia V (070 and 071). Only the 071 artwork (Oswaldo KATO) got an English full-art treatment as ASR 167; the 070 print (aky CG Works) has no English full-art match at all.
