Mega Dream ex Pre-Order Guide: Japanese Release Date and How to Buy

The Mega Dream ex pre order stage is over. The Japanese edition of Pokémon Card Game MEGA High Class Pack “MEGA Dream ex” (set code M2a, Japanese name ポケモンカードゲーム MEGA ハイクラスパック「MEGAドリームex」) came out in Japan on November 28, 2025. This guide covers the official release facts, what is inside a pack, and how to buy M2a from outside Japan today.

Updated November 3, 2026

Key facts: what is Mega Dream ex (M2a)?

Mega Dream ex is a Japanese-edition Pokémon TCG High Class Pack with the set code M2a. It was released on November 28, 2025, at a suggested retail price of 550 yen (tax included) per 10-card pack. All of the facts below come from the official Japanese product page on pokemon-card.com.

Is a Mega Dream ex pre order still possible?

No. M2a has been on sale in Japan since November 28, 2025, so there is nothing left to pre-order. Today you buy released product. The pre-order stage only covered the time before that date.

If you searched for “mega dream ex pre order”, the timing fact is simple: the Japanese edition release date was November 28, 2025, and that date is printed on the official M2a page (11月28日(金)発売).

So the useful questions now are different from the ones a pre-order buyer would ask:

  • Do you want sealed packs, or specific cards?
  • Do you want Japanese-edition M2a cards specifically, or are you also looking at the separate English-language expansion Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes?
  • If you want a specific card, do you want it graded? Our M2a listings are PSA 10 singles.
  • How will you pay, and which shipping speed fits your plans?

The rest of this guide takes these questions one at a time.

When was the Japanese release date for Mega Dream ex?

The Japanese release date for Mega Dream ex (M2a) was Friday, November 28, 2025. The English-language expansion Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes came out about two months later, on January 30, 2026.

The official Japanese page uses the tagline “メガシンカexと夢をその手に” (roughly, “Mega Evolution ex and your dreams, in your hands”) and announces the 11月28日(金) release. The English date comes from a Pokémon.com news article about Ascended Heroes, which gives January 30, 2026 as the release date.

Both dates fall well before this update. If you are planning a purchase now, you are buying a set that came out in Japan almost a year ago. Release-week timing doesn’t matter anymore. What matters is choosing the right product and the right listing.

What is inside a Mega Dream ex pack?

Each Mega Dream ex pack contains 10 cards, inserted at random, and the suggested retail price in Japan is 550 yen including tax. The official page doesn’t say how many packs are in a box, so this guide doesn’t give a box count.

Because the cards are inserted at random, the page doesn’t promise any particular card in any particular pack. We don’t quote pull odds either: there are no official numbers on the product page, and this guide only uses official and shop-page facts. For a set-level view of the box, see our Mega Dream ex booster box buying guide.

The official page describes what the set adds in three numbered parts, plus a few more headings:

  1. 01 – A new Mega Evolution ex card. Mega Dragonite ex (メガカイリューex) is introduced, along with cards the page lists as working well with it.
  2. 02 – A new rarity, MA (Mega Attack Rare). These are special-illustration cards showing Mega Evolution Pokémon using powerful attacks.
  3. 03 – Cards that strengthen existing decks. This part covers “N’s Pokémon” and “Team Rocket’s Pokémon” support, plus reprints of strong cards that saw play at events and elsewhere.

The page also mentions mirror-finish cards with Energy-symbol and Poké Ball patterns, and states that the set includes AR (Art Rare) and SAR (Special Art Rare) cards. Each of these is covered in the next section.

Which cards headline the Japanese M2a set?

The headline new card is Mega Dragonite ex. Around it, the official page highlights the MA rarity (with Mega Charizard X ex, Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex shown), N’s Pokémon support including N’s Zekrom, Team Rocket’s Pokémon support, mirror-pattern cards, and AR and SAR cards.

Mega Dragonite ex and its partner cards

The official page names Mega Dragonite ex as the new Mega Evolution ex card. It lists Dragonair (ハクリュー) and Dratini (ミニリュウ) as cards that pair well with it. In the same “works well with” block, it also lists Mega Eelektross ex (メガシビルドンex), Eelektrik (シビビール), Tynamo (シビシラス) and the card カナリィ (Canari), plus Mega Froslass ex (メガユキメノコex), Snorunt (ユキワラシ) and Frosmoth (モスノウ).

The new MA (Mega Attack Rare) rarity

MA stands for Mega Attack Rare (メガアタックレア). The official page calls these special-illustration cards that show Mega Evolution Pokémon unleashing powerful attacks. It shows three of them: Mega Charizard X ex, Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex. Our shop’s product names also label MEGA Dragonite ex 232/193 as MA, so the page’s three examples don’t cover every MA card.

N’s Pokémon and Team Rocket’s Pokémon support

For “N’s Pokémon” decks, the page lists N’s Zekrom (Nのゼクロム), the card バーベナとヘレナ, N’s Vanilluxe (Nのバイバニラ), N’s Vanillish (Nのバニリッチ) and N’s Vanillite (Nのバニプッチ). For “Team Rocket’s Pokémon” decks, it lists Team Rocket’s Honchkrow (ロケット団のドンカラス) and Team Rocket’s Dugtrio (ロケット団のダグトリオ).

Mirror-pattern cards, AR and SAR

The page shows mirror-finish cards with Energy-symbol and various Poké Ball patterns. Its examples are Budew (スボミー) and Team Rocket’s Murkrow (ロケット団のヤミカラス). It also says the set includes AR (Art Rare) and SAR (Special Art Rare) cards. Our listings include SAR cards such as MEGA Gengar ex 240/193 and AR cards such as Dustox 195/193.

M2a PSA 10 singles on our product pages

The table below lists M2a cards with PSA 10 product pages in our shop, using the card number and rarity shown in each product name. This is a list of our product pages, not a full set list. For the full set, see our Mega Dream ex (M2a) card list article.

Card Number Rarity (as in product name) Product page
MEGA Dragonite ex 232/193 MA PSA 10 MEGA Dragonite ex MA
MEGA Dragonite ex 246/193 SAR PSA 10 MEGA Dragonite ex SAR
MEGA Gengar ex 240/193 SAR PSA 10 MEGA Gengar ex SAR

N’s Zekrom 210/193 AR PSA 10 N’s Zekrom AR
Dustox 195/193 AR PSA 10 Dustox AR

Some cards have more than one PSA 10 product page. N’s Zekrom 210/193 also has a second PSA 10 listing, and MEGA Dragonite ex MA 232/193 has several, including this one. Prices and availability are shown on the product page itself and can change, so we don’t repeat them here.

Is Ascended Heroes the English version of Mega Dream ex?

The official English page doesn’t say so. Pokémon.com’s announcement of Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes doesn’t mention “MEGA Dream ex” at all, so there’s no official statement there that it is the English edition of M2a.

Here is what the English announcement does say. Ascended Heroes is part of the Mega Evolution Series, it was released on January 30, 2026, and it includes over 290 cards, more than 30 of them Trainer cards. It names Mega Dragonite ex as one of its cards. It doesn’t list rarity names; it only refers to “special illustrations”. So “MA” (Mega Attack Rare) is a term from the Japanese page and doesn’t appear on that English page.

For buyers, the practical point is the set code. If you want Japanese-edition cards with the M2a set code and the /193 numbering shown in our product names, you want MEGA Dream ex. Ascended Heroes is a separate English-language expansion, and its official page does not describe it as a version of M2a. We cover how the two compare in more depth in Ascended Heroes ex boxes vs the Japanese MEGA Dream ex box and in Mega Dream ex chase cards: Ascended Heroes and the Japanese M2a prints.

Here is the process step by step, based on our shipping policy and payment page:

  1. Pick the card. Use the card number (for example 240/193) and the rarity in the product name to confirm you have the right card. Some cards have more than one PSA 10 product page, so check the details on the page you open.
  2. Check the product page. The product page shows the current price and whether the item can be ordered. Prices and availability change, so the page is the reference, not this article.
  3. Enter a physical address. FedEx cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes, so give a street address at checkout. You are responsible for making sure the address is complete and correct.
  4. Choose a shipping method. Standard is FedEx International Connect Plus and expedited is FedEx International Priority. Both are tracked, and the cost is calculated at checkout from your address.
  5. Pay in JPY. Pick Wise bank transfer, PayPal, a credit or debit card through PayPal, or PayPal Pay Later where PayPal offers it.
  6. Wait for handling and dispatch. Most orders are processed and shipped within 5 business days after payment clears. That is an estimate, and it can vary.
  7. Track the parcel. After dispatch, your account and the shipping confirmation email show the tracking number and the carrier’s latest delivery estimate.

There is no minimum order amount or quantity, so you can order a single card. If you want boxes or packs, read our Ascended Heroes bundle vs Japanese M2a box comparison to see how the formats differ.

Which payment methods can you use for an M2a order?

You can pay by Wise bank transfer, PayPal, credit or debit card through PayPal, or PayPal Pay Later where it is offered. All payments are in Japanese yen. Wise is the only method without the 5% payment processing fee.

Method Key points from our payment page 5% processing fee
Wise (bank transfer) Pay within 3 days of ordering. Enter the reference SST-{order number} exactly as issued. SWIFT payments carry a JPY 611 receiving fee, so add JPY 611 to your total. No
PayPal Paid immediately at checkout from your PayPal balance or linked funding sources. Yes
Credit / debit card (through PayPal) Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB; PayPal decides which brands are offered to you. A PayPal account is usually not required. Yes
PayPal Pay Later Instalments run by PayPal, e.g. Pay in 4 (US, Australia, Canada) or Pay in 3 (UK). Availability is decided by PayPal. Not available to buyers in Japan. Yes

Some details matter for international buyers. Your statement may show a different amount from the yen amount we charge, because exchange rates and conversion fees are set by your card issuer, your bank or PayPal. If you pay by SWIFT wire, the payment page asks you to choose the OUR charge option (sender pays all charges) so that correspondent bank fees don’t reduce the amount we receive. If the amount that arrives is short, processing pauses until the shortfall is paid. Wise payments are confirmed during our business hours in the order received, and if payment can’t be confirmed by the deadline, the order is cancelled after a final check.

With card payments, the card form opens in PayPal’s own secure window. We never see, receive or store your card number, expiry date or security code. Your card issuer may ask for 3-D Secure confirmation, such as a one-time code.

How long does shipping take for Mega Dream ex orders?

FedEx transit after dispatch is usually 3–7 business days for standard shipping and 2–5 business days for expedited. That comes on top of our handling time, which for most orders is within 5 business days after payment clears. All of these figures are estimates, and actual delivery dates can vary.

Option Carrier service Estimated transit after dispatch Tracking
Standard FedEx International Connect Plus Usually 3–7 business days Yes
Expedited FedEx International Priority Usually 2–5 business days Yes
Handling (before dispatch) Samurai Sword Tokyo Most orders within 5 business days after payment clears Order status shown in your account

Business days exclude weekends and Japanese national holidays. The shipping policy notes that delivery estimates on our site, at checkout or in carrier tools don’t include handling time, weekends, Japanese holidays, customs processing, carrier congestion, weather or local delivery conditions. Once the parcel is with FedEx, delivery timing is controlled by the carrier and the destination country’s authorities. Customs inspections and import procedures can cause delays, and these are outside our control.

If dispatch is delayed before handoff to FedEx, we email you a revised estimate. For a significant delay, we may offer you the choice of waiting or cancelling with a full refund.

You can change the shipping address yourself under My Account > Orders while the order is paid and the shipment hasn’t been scheduled yet. The destination country can’t be changed. If the new address costs more to ship to, you pay the difference before dispatch. Once the shipment is scheduled, only a minor correction requested through our Contact Form may be possible.

What should you check before ordering an M2a PSA 10 single?

Confirm the card number and rarity in the product name, and remember that PSA 10 items may also be sold through our other sales channels. If that happens, your copy may need extra sourcing time after payment.

Every M2a product page in our shop describes the card as graded PSA 10 (Gem Mint) by Professional Sports Authenticator. The same description also notes that the PSA case may have minor scratches or marks on its surface. That refers to the plastic holder, not to the grade of the card.

The shipping policy explains what happens when a PSA item sells elsewhere. Because orders from different channels can arrive at almost the same time, a PSA item shown online may already be sold before we lock it to your online order. Once your payment clears, we secure a PSA graded card matching your order, even if that needs more sourcing, and dispatch may then take longer. We send status updates whenever the schedule changes. The product descriptions say the same thing more briefly: stock levels can change, so some orders take a little longer to ship.

A practical checklist before you pay:

  • The set name in the product title reads High Class Pack “MEGA Dream ex” and the code reads M2a.
  • The card number matches the one you want, for example 246/193 for MEGA Dragonite ex SAR rather than 232/193 for the MA version.
  • The rarity in the product name (MA, SAR or AR) is the one you are collecting.
  • Your shipping address is a physical address, not a P.O. Box.
  • You know which payment method you’ll use and whether the 5% fee applies.
