Scarlet & Violet was the English set that introduced Pokemon ex to the modern era — but every one of its headline chase cards started life as a Japanese card months earlier. The English set draws its full-art and secret rares from two Japanese releases, Scarlet ex (SV1S) and Violet ex (SV1V), both of which hit Japan on 20 January 2023, more than ten weeks before the English cards existed.

Scarlet & Violet (SVI, 258 cards, EN release 31 March 2023) is built from two Japanese sets — Scarlet ex (SV1S) and Violet ex (SV1V), 108 cards each, released 20 January 2023. How We Ranked These Chase Cards
We are not quoting TCGplayer, eBay, or PriceCharting numbers anywhere in this article. Instead, the ranking below uses two things we can actually verify from our own operation:
- Our own PSA 10 listings first, ordered by our listed price. Four of the ten cards below are cards we currently list graded PSA 10 — those sit at the top of the list, highest price first.
- Everything else, ordered by Japanese rarity tier. For cards not currently in our PSA 10 lineup, we ranked by the printed Japanese rarity: UR gold energy/support cards first, then SAR (Special Art Rare), then SR, then AR.
One naming note before the list: Limitless TCG’s English-language rarity labels (Illustration Rare, Special Illustration Rare, Hyper Rare) don’t appear on the Japanese cards themselves. The letters actually printed on the Japanese SV1S and SV1V cards are AR, SR, SAR, and UR — that’s what we use throughout this article and in our per-set card list pages.
The Top 10 Chase Cards

1. Gardevoir ex (SVI 245) — SV1S 101/078 SAR
In Japanese this is サーナイトex, and the artist credit on the Limitless Japanese card page matches the credit on SVI 245 exactly — same illustration, same artist. This is the highest-priced PSA 10 we currently list from either SV1S or SV1V: ¥55,328 (~$348) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order).
2. Koraidon ex (SVI 247) — SV1S 103/078 SAR
コライドンex, artist Ryota Murayama, matching the artist on SVI 247. Koraidon ex is the box-art legendary for Scarlet ex, and this SAR is our second-highest PSA 10 from the set: ¥17,108 (~$108) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order).
3. Katy full-art UR (SVI 237) — SV1V 097/078 SR
Katy is カエデ in Japanese — one of several gym-leader trainer names that changed entirely in English localisation. Artist Akira Komayama matches SVI 237. This is our third-highest PSA 10: ¥16,006 (~$101) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order).
4. Penny (SVI 252) — SV1S 105/078 SAR
In Japan she’s ボタン. Artist OKACHEKE matches the credit on SVI 252. This SAR is our fourth PSA 10 from the pair of sets: ¥9,896 (~$62) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order). Note that a separate full-art UR of Penny at SVI 239 is illustrated by a different artist (“yuu”) and is a distinct print from this SAR — the two shouldn’t be confused.
5. Miraidon ex HR gold (SVI 253) — SV1V 106/078 UR
ミライドンex, the gold-bordered UR that closes out the Violet ex secret-rare run. Artist 5ban Graphics matches SVI 253. This one isn’t currently in our PSA 10 lineup — sourcing runs through our Quick Order page.
6. Koraidon ex HR gold (SVI 254) — SV1S 106/078 UR
The gold UR counterpart to card #2, コライドンex here by aky CG Works, matching SVI 254. Not currently in our PSA 10 lineup — ask via Quick Order.
7. Miraidon ex SIR (SVI 244) — SV1V 102/078 SAR

Closing the list, ジニア in Japanese, illustrated by Oswaldo KATO to match SVI 250. Not currently in our PSA 10 lineup — sourcing via Quick Order.
