Two official caution notes are worth repeating: because these are pre-built constructed decks, the same card appears more than once inside each 60-card deck; and the set includes some cards reprinted from past series, without the official page specifying which ones.
The Four Headline Cards: Espeon ex & Umbreon ex
Each deck carries its ex Pokemon twice — once as a standard holofoil and once as a full-art version the official page calls a full-illustration (フルイラスト) card. That is the only rarity term Pokemon itself applies to 043/040 and 044/040. Japanese coverage from snkrdunk separately describes them as “SAR-spec” and Pokebeach’s English coverage has called them Special Illustration Rares — both media labels, not the official rarity. Pokemon’s own card database, updated September 9, 2026, credits the full-art pair to illustrator REND.
Espeon ex 014/040 (regular)
Psychic type, HP 260, Stage 1 evolving from Eevee. Its attack, Sunshine Beat ([P][C]), does 30 damage multiplied by the number of your own Pokemon in play — it rewards a board full of Pokemon over a single big attacker. Weakness Darkness x2, Resistance Fighting -30, Retreat Cost 1, standard ex rule (opponent takes two prizes on knockout). Attack text per Pokebeach’s translation; the official page itself does not print card text.
Umbreon ex 017/040 (regular)
Darkness type, HP 270, Stage 1 evolving from Eevee. Its attack, Lunatic Claw ([D][C]), does 100 damage, plus 140 more (240 total) if the opponent’s Active Pokemon already has damage counters on it. Espeon ex 043/040 (full-art)
Same Pokemon, same 260 HP and Sunshine Beat text as above, in the deck’s alternate full-art treatment; illustration credited to REND, now confirmed in Pokemon’s official card database (September 9, 2026), not only per snkrdunk. Umbreon ex 044/040 (full-art)
The full-art counterpart to 017/040, same 270 HP and Lunatic Claw text, also credited to REND, now confirmed in the official card database. Numbering note: this is an entirely different card from the M6a booster set’s Umbreon 077/103 — two separate Umbreon prints, two separate 30th-anniversary products, releasing the same week. How to Play Them Out of the Box
Both decks are tournament-legal 60 cards straight from the box, no deck-building required. Each runs a single Stage 1 ex line evolving from Eevee, backed by search Trainers (Ultra Ball, Poke Pad, Guy at the full four-of) and a basic Energy split matched to its attack costs: Grass/Fire/Psychic for Espeon ex’s Sunshine Beat, Lightning/Psychic/Darkness for Umbreon ex’s Lunatic Claw.
The two decks play differently. Sunshine Beat scales with board presence — the Espeon side wants several small attackers on the field before it starts scoring knockouts. Lunatic Claw is a straightforward finisher — 100 damage on a clean target, 240 on anything already carrying damage counters, which rewards trading hits over building a wide board.
Release, MSRP and How Japan Sold It
MSRP is ¥6,200 tax included (about $39), releasing in Japan on September 16, 2026, the same street date as the M6a booster expansion. Rather than a standard shelf launch, the box has moved through Pokemon Center Online lottery rounds and retailer-run entry systems.

Pokemon’s own September 4, 2026 event update confirmed the additional-lottery results went out that day (box at 13:00 JST, this deck set at 17:00 JST). That reporting also describes two applicant tiers, with verified Pokemon Center Online account holders receiving most of the allocation. Japanese retailers ran parallel lottery or entry-request systems too, including Rakuten Books, Edion, Yodobashi.com, several Tsutaya stores and Amazon Japan — per retailer and media reporting, not the official page. No additional print run has been announced for the box as of the most recent check.
