OP-17 has been out in Japan since August 22, 2026 — and English players have had it since August 28, 2026.
BOOSTER PACK –The World’s Strongest Warriors– [OP-17] released in Japan on Saturday, August 22, 2026, and the English edition followed on August 28, 2026 at an MSRP of USD $4.99 per pack. The gap between the two releases wasn’t just a week of waiting — English events ran from August 21, and a 75-card 4th Anniversary Store Tournament window opened the same day and ran through September 13 with its own participation promo.
This guide lays out exactly what happened on which date, what a collector actually gets from the Japanese box, currently listed at ¥12,505 (~$81) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order), versus what the English release and tournament window added, and where the Japanese OP-17 booster box is listed if you’d rather open the set in its original printing.
None of this is a small set to catch up on. OP-17’s official card database ties 169 entries to this product across base cards, parallels, and reprint inserts, and two brand-new rarity treatments debuted with it. The full checklist is on our OP-17 card list page.
Japanese OP-17 released August 22, 2026, and the English edition released August 28, 2026 at USD $4.99 MSRP per pack. English events began August 21, and the 4th Anniversary Store Tournament window (August 21–September 13) has closed; it offered a 75-card Tournament Pack and a P-110 Luffy leader participation promo. The Japanese OP-17 booster box is currently listed at ¥12,505 (~$81) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) and ships from Tokyo.
- The English OP-17 release date was August 28, 2026: the official EN product page lists an events start of August 21, 2026, Release Date August 28, 2026, MSRP USD $4.99 per pack, and 131+4 card types — the same set contents as the Japanese printing.
- The store tournament window ended on September 13, 2026, and the English Set Sail Deck Set [SD-01] released on September 18, 2026 at $24.99 with one OP-17 English booster pack alongside two constructed decks.
- The lowest asking price on SNKRDUNK on September 29, 2026 for a sealed Japanese OP-17 box was ¥10,900 (~$71); the box on our store is currently listed at ¥12,505 (~$81) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order). The full checklist is on our OP-17 card list page.
Timeline: From Japan’s Release to the English Store Tournament
The key OP-17 dates overlapped rather than running one after another:
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| August 21, 2026 | English events began; the 4th Anniversary Store Tournament window opened |
| August 22, 2026 | Japanese OP-17 booster box released |
| August 28, 2026 | English OP-17 booster box released (MSRP USD $4.99 per pack) |
| August 21 – September 13, 2026 | 4th Anniversary Store Tournament window (closed September 13): 75-card Tournament Pack, P-110 Luffy leader participation promo |
| September 18, 2026 | Set Sail Deck Set [SD-01] released in English ($24.99) — includes one OP-17 English booster pack |
Both releases have happened: Japanese OP-17 since August 22, the English edition since August 28. The store tournament window ended on September 13 and SD-01 released on September 18.
The English events (August 21) and the store tournament window (also opening August 21) started a full week before the English booster box’s own street date of August 28. For that week English-side players were at events before an English OP-17 booster pack was on shelves — the two tracks (event product vs. retail booster product) ran on separate calendars even though they share a set name and a launch season. A third track followed on September 18, when the English Set Sail Deck Set [SD-01] ($24.99) arrived with two constructed decks (51 cards plus 10 DON!! each), one OP-17 English booster pack, a 2-player playsheet, and a guide book.
What’s Actually Inside OP-17: A Quick Recap
OP-17’s official card database lists 169 entries tied to this product: 119 numbered base cards (OP17-001 through OP17-119), 39 parallel/alternate-art versions of those cards, and 11 SP-card reprint inserts that keep their original set numbers from other releases. The 119 numbered cards break down as 45 Common / 30 Uncommon / 26 Rare / 10 Super Rare / 6 Leader / 2 Secret Rare, spread across six colors at roughly 19–21 cards each, and split by type into 6 Leaders, 95 Characters, 17 Events, and 1 Stage.
Two rarity treatments are new to the line with this set. Super Leader Parallel is the first leader parallel treatment — every one of the six leaders (Edward.Newgate, Shanks, Rocks.D.Xebec, Kaido, Monkey.D.Luffy, Charlotte Linlin) gets a _p1 alternate-art version. Pirate Crew Super Parallel sits a step above that as the set’s top chase tier, applied to cards including Luffy (OP17-079_p2) — who is the only leader with both a Super Leader Parallel and a Pirate Crew Super Parallel — and Rocks.D.Xebec (OP17-118_p2).

Beneath the Pirate Crew Super Parallels sit OP-17’s regular Secret Rares, Rocks.D.Xebec (OP17-118) and Loki (OP17-119), plus a Treasure Rare in Lucky.Roux (OP17-033_p1). A separate manga/comic-art parallel line touches four characters — Edward.Newgate (OP17-005_p2), Shanks (OP17-022_p2), Kaido (OP17-062_p2), and Charlotte Linlin (OP17-112_p2) — and Kaido gets a third version on top of that: a “Baki” Kaido illustrated by Keisuke Itagaki (OP17-062_p3).

Alongside all of that, packs also carry 11 SP-card reprint inserts pulled from earlier sets — cards like the EB-04 Luffy Secret Rare, ST31 Luffy, and OP13 Shanks — grouped in official announcement and retailer copy into “New Emperor” and “Conqueror’s Haki” treatments. We cover the full 119-card list, every parallel, and all 11 SP inserts card-by-card in our OP-17 complete card list guide, and the leader lineup specifically in our OP-17 leader cards guide. For a rarity-by-rarity Super Rare breakdown, see our OP-17 Super Rare cards guide, or browse the full checklist directly on our OP-17 card list page.

All of that comes packed into a straightforward physical configuration: each pack holds 6 cards for ¥240 tax included, and a box holds 24 packs. That is the same distribution model the set launched with in Japan.
Japanese OP-17 vs the English Edition: What’s the Same and What Isn’t
The official Asia-EN card database lists English names for the 119 numbered cards, parallels, and SP inserts tied to this product.
The official EN product page lists MSRP USD $4.99 per pack and the same 131+4 card types as the Japanese set. The Japanese pack is ¥240 tax included for 6 cards, with a box holding 24 packs. If you want a full side-by-side of Japanese and English OP-17 — pricing, configuration, and how the two editions compare — that’s covered in our dedicated OP-17 Japanese vs English comparison.
What this means practically: if your priority is having the cards and knowing what you’re chasing by name, the Japanese release delivers that. If your priority is pulling cards printed in English, the release on August 28 delivered that too — and the Set Sail Deck Set [SD-01], released on September 18, added a $24.99 English entry product with one OP-17 booster pack inside.
One more distinction worth flagging: this article is about the OP-17 booster release specifically, not the 75-card Tournament Pack tied to the store tournament below. The Tournament Pack is a separate event product on its own English-side track, and we treat it separately in the next section rather than folding it into the base-set comparison here.
The 4th Anniversary Store Tournament
Running alongside the English events and release window, the 4th Anniversary Store Tournament opened August 21 and ran through September 13, 2026. The window included a 75-card Tournament Pack and a P-110 Luffy leader participation promo for players who took part.
This is a separate track from simply owning OP-17 packs or boxes. The Tournament Pack and the P-110 promo are event-specific — they’re not part of the 169-entry OP-17 card database covered above, and we don’t have official pricing or distribution details for the Tournament Pack itself to report here. The three-and-a-half-week tournament window ran alongside the English card release.
This is the 4th Anniversary Store Tournament. OP-17’s release date simply landed inside that anniversary window, which is why the English events, the set release, and the start of the tournament all clustered in late August. For a collector, that means the P-110 Luffy promo was an anniversary-event reward tied to participation, not a pull found inside an OP-17 booster pack itself — the two are adjacent but distinct.
Reported Market Snapshot on the Japanese Side
The lowest asking price on SNKRDUNK on September 29, 2026 for a sealed Japanese OP-17 box was ¥10,900 (~$71) — an asking price, not a sold price.
Our own Japanese OP-17 box is currently listed at ¥12,505 (~$81) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) — we’re not claiming any price advantage over the wider market here, and MSRP for the set (24 packs × ¥240) works out to ¥5,760. USD figures convert at ¥154/USD, approximate.
For chase-card-level pricing on individual pulls rather than sealed box figures, see our OP-17 release-day price report.
Read these figures for what they are: a single dated lowest ask, not an established market. On the English side, no current SNKRDUNK figure for the OP-17 English box is in this update.
Where to Buy the Japanese OP-17 Box
The Japanese OP-17 booster box is currently listed at ¥12,505 (~$81) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order), and it’s the same 24-pack, 119-numbered-card set that’s been out since August 22 — with both editions released, the choice comes down to which printing you want to open.
If you’re comparing it against the previous set, our OP-16 The Time of Battle box (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) and the cosmetic damaged-box OP-16 copy (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) are both sold out at the time of this update — restock requests go through Quick Order. Our OP-17 vs OP-16 box buying guide walks through that decision in more detail, and our OP-17 booster box and case buying guide covers case-level economics if you’re buying in volume.
We don’t list OP-17 singles individually — for specific cards, whether that’s a Pirate Crew Super Parallel, a Super Leader Parallel, or one of the 11 SP-card inserts, request a quote via our Quick Order page. The full checklist is on our OP-17 card list page, and OP-18 is covered in our OP-18 release date and card list guide.
The English release (out since August 28) and the store tournament (which ended September 13) were separate ways to engage with OP-17, covered above and in our OP-17 Japanese vs English comparison.
