Ho-Oh and Lugia: The Numbering Pair
Ho-Oh is 007/103 in the Japanese main-set numbering and 012/128 in the English checklist. Lugia is 097/103 in Japanese and 121/128 in English. Bill’s Archive states both pairings together in one sentence, naming Ho-Oh and Lugia as “the same two cards as English #012/128 and #121/128.”
Both cards are officially listed main-set prints in Japan — not part of the compiled AR/SAR/FUR block — so there’s no compiled-image workaround needed for either one; both illustrators are credited in the official database. Per PokeBeach’s September 9, 2026 translation, Ho-Oh has two attacks: [R][R] Sacred Breath, which discards all Energy from Ho-Oh itself in order to heal all damage from one of your Pokémon, and [R][R][R] Fire Wing, a flat 100-damage attack.

Lugia’s single attack, per the same PokeBeach translation, is [R][W][L] Elemental Blast: 250 damage for three energy of three different types (Fire, Water, Lightning), discarding all three afterward. It’s the highest single-attack damage figure between the two cards here, at the cost of a triple-type energy requirement and discarding all of it in one shot.
Legendary Birds and the Same-Set Ability Combo
Ho-Oh and Lugia aren’t part of 30th CELEBRATION’s Legendary-bird trio — that’s Moltres (006/103), Articuno (012/103) and Zapdos (049/103), a separate group of three cards with linked Abilities. Each of the three has an Ability that only activates “if you have [the other two] in play,” attaching a Basic Energy of its own type: Moltres’s Fiery Flapping (Fire), Articuno’s Frost Flapping (Water) and Zapdos’s Flash-Pop Flapping (Lightning).
Ho-Oh has one print in the set, at 007/103, without the birds’ interlocking Ability text, but sharing the same JP↔EN numbering-pair pattern as every other main-set card. Lugia is not single-print, though: beyond the main-set 097/103 covered here, the set’s Classic Collection reprints Lugia a second time at 142/103, illustrated by Naoyo Kimura. That Classic reprint carries no regulation mark and is not usable in the current Standard regulation per the official page — our Lugia card guide covers both printings side by side. The main-set prints of Ho-Oh, Lugia and all three Legendary birds instead carry regulation mark J, keeping them Standard-legal under the current H·I·J rotation — only the Classic Collection reprint sits outside that rotation.

30th CELEBRATION released worldwide on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The English 30th Celebration product line — including the Elite Trainer Box named in PokeBeach’s lineup article — released the same day. Ho-Oh and Lugia’s Japanese and English printings have both been available since that date, with no gap between the two languages. The Japanese pack costs ¥360 for 6 foil cards, with one YOSHIROTTEN Basic Energy guaranteed in every pack; the English pack, per pokemon.com’s official showcase, holds five foil cards including one of 30 Pikachu plus one foil Basic Energy.
The Dated Market Ask
