Which trainer cards you'll find here

Trainer cards are one of the three card types in the Pokemon TCG, alongside Pokemon and Energy, and they include Supporters, Items and Stadiums. Supporter cards usually show a person, such as a Gym Leader, a rival or a professor. In Japanese sets their full-art versions are printed as SR (Super Rare), SAR (Special Art Rare) or HR (Hyper Rare), and collectors mainly look for these full art trainer cards because the artwork covers the whole card.

Trainers in this collection include Lillie, Marnie, Iono, Cynthia, Skyla, Melony, Nessa, Bea, Penny, Acerola, Serena, Lacey, Grusha, Mela and Iris, from Black & White SR cards such as Iris (BW9) and Skyla (BW7) through Sun & Moon, Sword & Shield and Scarlet & Violet to the Mega Evolution sets. Sets that appear often include VSTAR Universe (s12a), Tag Team GX Tag All Stars (SM12a), GX Ultra Shiny (SM8b), VMAX Climax (S8b), Shiny Treasure ex (SV4a) and Terastal Festival ex (SV8a), and The Best of XY prints of Hex Maniac, Shauna and Delinquent are listed as well.

Event promos include the Extra Battle Day cards of Lillie, Acerola and Guzma (SM-P 395 to 397), and Items appear as UR (Ultra Rare) prints such as Ultra Ball and Nest Ball. Japanese CHR and CSR cards, the prints behind the English Trainer Gallery cards, are Pokemon cards and are listed on each Pokemon's own page. Nearly all cards here are Japanese, and the few other-language cards are marked in the title. Higher-priced promos and early SR cards are listed next to lower-priced recent SR and SAR prints, and each product page shows the current price.

How to read a listing

Every title follows the same order: grade, card name, rarity, then the set code and card number in brackets and the set name in parentheses. For example, PSA10 Lillie TR [SM10b 053/054] (Enhanced Expansion Sky Legend) is the Trainer Rare Lillie, card 053 of Sky Legend. Promo titles show a promo code such as SM-P 397 in place of a set number, and a number above the set total marks a secret rare. Rarity codes in this collection include SR (Super Rare), SAR (Special Art Rare), HR (Hyper Rare), UR (Ultra Rare), TR (Trainer Rare) and PROMO, and 1ED marks a 1st Edition card. PSA 10 is the Gem Mint grade, the top of PSA's 10-point scale, and each slab label carries its own certification number. Sold-out cards stay visible at the end of the grid.

FAQ

What is the difference between SR, SAR and HR trainer cards?

SR (Super Rare) is the full-art version of a trainer card and appears across eras, from Black and White cards such as Skyla to the Mega Evolution sets. SAR (Special Art Rare) began with VSTAR Universe (s12a) and shows the trainer in an illustrated scene. HR (Hyper Rare) is numbered above the set total; most HR trainers here come from Sword and Shield sets.

Where can I find Trainer Gallery cards?

Trainer Gallery is a subset of English Sword and Shield sets. The matching Japanese prints are CHR (Character Rare) and CSR (Character Super Rare) cards, which show a Pokemon with its trainer. Because they are Pokemon cards, we list them on that Pokemon's page, such as the Snorlax CHR on the Snorlax page. Our Trainer Gallery vs CHR/CSR guide explains how they line up.

Which female trainers are in this collection?

Female trainers here include Lillie, Marnie, Iono, Cynthia, Skyla, Melony, Nessa, Bea, Penny, Acerola, Serena, Lacey and Mela, in SR, SAR and promo versions. Which cards can be bought changes as they sell, and sold-out cards stay listed at the end of the grid. Our female Pokemon trainer cards guide gives background on female trainer cards.

How do I order trainer cards from Japan?
